00:00yesterday afternoon 70 to 64 Auburn who was number one for very large portion of
00:07the season now finds themselves in the final four you know I had some problems
00:11guy with broom getting hurt right on that one play his elbow his ankle it
00:17seemed like a whole bunch of stuff got broom hurt but he was just fine out
00:21there first player with 25 points 10 boards 75% from the floor in an elite
00:26game since Hakeem Olajuwon in 1984 some of brooms handiwork on Westwood one
00:33sports we cross the five-minute mark left Auburn with possession with a
00:37nine-point lead brooms pass underneath taken by Kelly out to the wing hands to
00:43broom hands back to Kelly behind the back bounce broom open right when three
00:46got it we got a Willis Reed moment here in Atlanta yeah listen you know it's
00:54funny that it's not funny at all that he actually I think tweaked his knee and
00:59his ankle and the elbow on that play you could literally see his knee buckle and
01:06his ankle roll while he went down and then smashed his elbow which was
01:11definitely aft up and I'll tell you what I thought it was a good game I watched
01:16every second of it and you know they they beat both Michigan and Michigan
01:20State they handled their business people forget they were the number one
01:24overall seed in a tournament and they had lost three of four going out and
01:29everyone said they didn't deserve it to be the number one overall seed and who's
01:34laughing now I mean they're in the final four this guy's a great coach that's just
01:39all there is to it brooms a great player and they're gonna be hard to beat
01:44obviously I think anyone could win these games on Saturday night in San
01:50Antonio but that guy's special usually you know when you got a player of that
01:56magnitude this like Cooper flag this guy broom they really tend to make it right
02:05they tend to get it done and go to the final and that's just all there is to it
02:09back in the day when I was covering it Indiana had Alford and I'll never forget
02:16against you and LV hit a shot and got fouled at the half and made a four-point
02:20play and when he shot the ball he shot it from about 30 feet and he held up
02:24four fingers and he was at the final four and he knew he was gonna make the
02:28guy made 98% of his free throws socks shorts one two three used to do the same
02:35thing every time he shot a free throw the guy never missed he was mr.
02:38basketball the only thing that's left crazy to think about that guy was that
02:42he was never hired at Indiana and I've heard the stories over and over through
02:46the years he wasn't hired because Quinn Butler didn't like him and he's like
02:51the head of everything at Indiana the Board of Trustees and all the rest so he
02:56never wanted Steve Alford I always thought Alford would eventually end up
03:00the Indiana coach but at this point frankly he's almost too far west and too
03:05far gone and too old I don't think they need to go back in time anymore for
03:12these old coaches I think this guy DeVries that they got is the beginning
03:16of the end for a guy like Alford in Bloomington it'll never happen
