00:00As President Trump and I have stressed many times before, economic security is national security.
00:08One of the most important roles we play at Treasury is safeguarding American interests against foreign adversaries.
00:15Today, I'm proud to announce that we've taken decisive action against the Sinaloa Cartel,
00:21one of the most notoriously violent criminal and drug trafficking organizations in the world.
00:27Our administration is committed to cutting off their funding and neutralizing the threat through all available tools.
00:35We leveled sanctions against six individuals and seven entities involved in a money laundering operation,
00:43cutting off financing for these evil people.
00:46Today, the Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network also issued an alert
00:52to help financial institutions detect and deter bulk cash smuggling by transnational criminal organizations in Mexico.
01:01The Sinaloa Cartel has invaded our southern border.
01:05They have tortured and murdered countless of our citizens,
01:09dedicated law enforcement agents like Kiki Camarena,
01:13and veterans like Nicholas Quetz, who was only 31 years old when he was ruthlessly taken from us.
01:21And the group is responsible for a significant amount of the fentanyl and illicit drugs brought into the United States,
01:28drugs that continue to kill innocent Americans and destroy families every single day.
01:35Today's action builds on the great and coordinated work across the Trump administration,
01:41from the White House to DHS to the DOJ.
01:45We have a steady drumbeat of regulatory and sanctions actions, as well as national security actions,
01:52sending a clear message that American strength is back.
