A west side Detroit apartment building was blown out in an explosion, early the morning of March 31, 2025, leaving some residents trapped on the second floor. WWJ's Charlie Langton reports twelve people, including six kids, were injured.

00:00This is amazing. This is the back side of that apartment complex, a little field and
00:07school craft on the city's west side. Firefighters are, it looks like they're trying to go into
00:12the building right now, but that building is just about ready to collapse. 12 people
00:19were taken to the hospital already, some of them dangling from the second floor. You see
00:24a very active scene. They've got EMS on the scene. Three in serious condition with serious
00:31burns. Give some credit to the Detroit Fire Department. They made some amazing rescues,
00:36but now it looks like they're trying to get into this building. The decision is going
00:39to be made whether to just tear it down, but obviously a very serious situation here on
00:45the west side.
