00:00days to now go remember for the reciprocal tariff by Donald Trump
00:04administration Donald Trump says reciprocal tariff will target all
00:08countries he has said on Sunday that reciprocal tariffs that he said to
00:12announce this week which needs to be as according to his information by the
00:152nd of April will be implemented he says will include all nations not just a
00:20small group of 10 to 15 countries with the biggest trade imbalance so that is
00:25what Donald Trump has said that it will be irrespective remember there are some
00:29nations that have possibly expected a certain relief especially if they've
00:33been able to have a conversation with Donald Trump I want to bring in our
00:36foreign affairs editor Geeta Mohan on this Geeta tell me more about this that
00:39he's he's clearly saying no discrimination here but wouldn't there
00:43be some sort of an analysis or discussion about certain countries how
00:47is he going to decide how to go ahead with reciprocal tariffs
00:52there was a lot of conversation there was a delegation here in India from the
01:00United States of America discussing just that the tariffs between India and the
01:05United States of America and one did push for India did push for carve out
01:13for India which means a relief for India that reciprocal tariffs should not be
01:18should not be levied against India for from the 2nd of April and should the
01:26reciprocal tariffs be begin then there are areas which the two sides should be
01:34looking at to give some sort of a relief to for India it was it was agriculture
01:42but but the press statement that came out of that entire five-day visit of the
01:49trade delegation clearly says that they are looking at a bilateral trade
01:55agreement by fall but did not mention any specific relief they just say the
02:04sectoral engagements under PTA will start and that's where during the
02:11discussions the two sides also discuss productive exchange on on reducing
02:17tariffs and non-tariff barriers so tariffs is an issue for for the US for
02:24the Trump administration and there has been no specific carve out yet we will
02:29have to wait and see how that will impact India because the impact certainly
02:33will be huge for countries across the world but it should it would impact
02:40America as well before now reciprocal tariffs are on and we will that's true
02:47eventually America also has to look at its own domestic interest could that
02:50also take a step back here but perhaps that is what the conversations will be
02:54with the administration
