A tragic incident unfolded in Sailana town, Ratlam district, Madhya Pradesh, where a woman lost her newborn after allegedly being denied medical treatment twice at a local community health center.
According to reports, Krishna Gwala took his wife to the health center on the morning of March 23, but a nurse dismissed them, claiming the delivery was still days away. Later that night, when the woman experienced severe labor pains, they returned to the hospital, only to be turned away again by another nurse, who insisted she had 15 more hours before delivery.
With no other means of transport, Krishna Gwala was forced to take his wife to the hospital on a hand-cart. Tragically, she delivered the baby on the way, but the newborn did not survive.
Following the incident, Krishna Gwala blamed the hospital staff and demanded strict action. Authorities have since launched an investigation, confirming negligence by medical staff. As a result:
● Nurse Chetna Charel has been suspended
● The contract of nurse Gayatri Patidar has been terminated
● A senior medical officer has been issued a show-cause notice
● The on-duty doctor's actions have been reported to higher authorities
The district collector has assured that further action will be taken once the inquiry is completed.
