00:00Thank you, Mr. Leader.
00:01Earlier this week, President Trump issued an executive order that introduces several
00:02changes to federal election procedures, including proof of citizenship for voter registration.
00:03I wanted to get your reaction to that executive order.
00:04And you spoke about the role that kitchen table issues and that cost of living has played
00:05top of mind for a lot of voters.
00:06Do you think that these threats to democracy are also top of mind of voters, or will Democrats
00:07have to work a lot harder to address them?
00:58The fact that Republicans have claimed that federal elections should be left to the states
01:03and local municipalities, but now you see this executive overreach, is that something
01:07that you think the American people should be aware of?
01:10Republicans have zero credibility on the issue of protecting democracy and as it relates
01:16to the integrity of our election.
01:19Republicans have actually concluded that voter suppression is an electoral strategy.
01:23These people in the House wouldn't even be in the majority right now if it weren't for
01:29the egregious, mid-decade, highly partisan gerrymandering that took place in North Carolina.
01:36Think about that.
01:37They would not even be in the majority right now, but then they're running around the country
01:42claiming to have a mandate.
01:44Give me a break.
