00:00And what do you make of the comments themselves about Europe and what are essentially historic
00:08allies of the United States?
00:10So reaffirmation, rather than new information, of what we've heard publicly.
00:16It's not that they're saying something different in public and private.
00:22Senior people in the administration, including President Trump himself, of course, have said
00:27very much that they think that the Europeans have had a free ride on security.
00:32And of course, they're right to some extent.
00:35More so for some countries than others, of course.
00:38But in general, it is right that Europeans should be galvanized into spending more of
00:44their money and effort on securing their defense.
00:49It's obviously rather brutal to hear about it in this slightly casual way on a signal
00:53chat group.
00:55But nonetheless, I don't think that message in private is much different from the message
00:59that all European leaders are getting in public from the Trump administration.
