Prithviraj Sukumaran & Mohanlal Interview
Transcript
00:00I can't assure you anything. I am just hoping that it engages.
00:04I understand that the expectations are very high and actually I am very happy about it
00:08because I am also relying on those expectations for this film to open big
00:12and people to come and have that excitement over it.
00:15But I can't let those expectations drive me while making the film.
00:19So I believe I have made a very honest film in terms of what the second part of the franchise should be.
00:24And I really hope and pray that on come 27th, you will go to the theatres and watch the film and like what you see.
00:30That's all that I can hope for.
00:32Lucifer was a story of Stephen Adumbally.
00:36And in the climax, we are giving an idea of another person also in Stephen.
00:48It's called Abraham Qureshi. Qureshi Abraham.
00:51So in Empuran, we are showing who is Qureshi Abraham because Stephen Adumbally is known as Qureshi Abraham also.
00:58So this is the story of Qureshi Abraham.
01:01So maybe we have another film coming up after the success of this film.
01:06That will give you the idea of who is Stephen, how he became Qureshi Abraham.
01:11So this is a beginning of another character from Stephen to Qureshi Abraham.
01:16Empuran is the story of Qureshi Abraham. How Stephen is known as Qureshi Abraham.
01:21The biggest challenge was that this film is mounted on a scale and size that at least for us from Kerala is a never before attempt.
01:29So to pull off that was actually a challenge.
01:32And the biggest challenge being that this is a film shot in real locations.
01:36So it took me almost two years to travel around the world and find locations where I can shoot the film.
01:42That was a long process.
01:43And then actually after having found those locations, to be traveling around the world with such a big unit,
01:48the logistical challenges of moving such a big unit between cities within countries,
01:54all that I think was the biggest challenge.
01:56But full marks to my wonderful production team, my producer Antony Perimbaur,
02:00my line producers Mr. Suresh Balaji, Mr. George Payas, my creative director Nirmal Sahadev, my associate director Vava.
02:08For me, from a director's perspective, it was just a very smooth process.
02:12The whole film moved like a well-oiled piece of machinery.
02:16But I am sure underneath these guys must have been working 24x7 for that to happen.
02:20No, no. See, as Prithviraj said, for a Malayalam film, this is a huge film, budget-wise.
02:27And we have the preparation of two years.
02:30But we have done films like this, definitely.
02:34The possibility of such films are bigger now, to come out with a film.
02:39And if it's a success, it will be a big success, because now we call this a pan-Indian film.
02:44We have Tamil, Telugu, bigger options.
02:48Before that, we didn't have that kind of options.
02:51But in Embran, we created a big shout, like it's going to be a big film.
02:56And the story demands such kind of locations, such kind of actors.
03:02So we are trying something very big from the Malayalam industry.
03:06And it will be a success, we are all hoping for that.
03:09Thank you, sir.
