00:00Anything's possible at Christmas.
00:01You'll almost find that line in every movie.
00:07You have to have snow.
00:10You have to have a scene where you have hot cocoa.
00:13Most interesting person who was ever born.
00:15Maybe I am.
00:17Preferably you have a scene where you ice skate
00:19or like you learn to ice skate together.
00:20It's in everything.
00:21I've always skated circles around you.
00:23I love it when they do that.
00:24They want that coziness.
00:26There's gotta be that dazzling decoration.
00:28We want the Christmas.
00:29We want the cookies.
00:30Every time there's a snowball fight.
00:32You know, drink.
00:33But really at the end of the day,
00:34it's about falling in love.
00:39Christmas has to be one of the main characters.
00:41Is it a Christmas memory?
00:42Is it something that happens at Christmas?
00:44Is it Christmas traditions?
00:45Is it the making cookies?
00:46Is it the families getting together?
00:48It has to be an integral part of the story.
00:50Or else it's just a rom-com
00:51that you're doing any other time of year.
00:53So my early Christmas present for you is
00:56a blind date.
00:57I love it.
00:58Christmas is a time of year
00:59when everybody opens their heart
01:01around the world.
01:02It's like you're putting a little blanket around you
01:05when you watch a rom-com.
01:07You add that Christmas element
01:08to a traditional romantic comedy
01:10and you just get even more of that.
01:12People go to see those movies
01:13because of the predictability.
01:15You know, because they kind of know
01:17what's going to happen in there.
01:19You know, it's like,
01:20because they kind of know
01:21what's going to happen in there.
01:23Whether they're good or bad,
01:24the cheesiness,
01:25whatever sort of scale it's on,
01:27I think there's something comforting
01:29and appealing.
01:37You're, you know, indoors.
01:39You need actors.
01:40But you're not doing massive effects.
01:42And so it limits your location.
01:44Romantic comedies are about people.
01:46So you need a great script
01:47and you need great actors.
01:48But those, depending,
01:50are relatively affordable.
02:13Why are they staring?
02:15Because you look perfect.
02:16Just this year, more than 140
02:18original Christmas movies
02:20are coming out.
02:30We've gone through a major transformation
02:31just in the last couple of years.
02:33I'm really excited about the direction
02:34I'm seeing all of the networks
02:36and the streamers take
02:37to be more authentic.
02:38And we need to see people
02:40all from different nationalities,
02:41from different parts of the world,
02:42because that's who we are as a world.
02:43We're not one cookie cutter way.
02:45Go pedal on a mountain.
02:49Don't mean to brag, but I got skills.
02:54I mean, we want to feel like
02:56the fairy tale could happen to us
02:58where people are just, you know,
03:0010% more put together
03:02than they are in real life.
03:03And the situations are just,
03:05once again, turned up
03:06and even crazier
03:07than they would be in real life.
03:08And there's almost a guaranteed
03:10happy ending with the genre, too.
03:12And I think especially
03:13after the year or two we've had,
03:15I think right now in particular,
03:17there's such a hunger
03:18for sort of feel-good entertainment.
03:24I say that's absolutely OK.
03:26You watch whatever
03:27your little heart loves.
03:28But for those of us
03:29that do love rom-coms,
03:31come watch them with me.
