00:50He's looking at it
00:52If he could work it out, he would have done a good job
01:00If you ever were in the field and see what we go through, you've got no idea man
01:19We got you buddy, don't worry, I got you now
01:30Flash over, flash over
01:50It is too large to put out
01:52Anything that we're doing just isn't working
01:56And that's with all the aircraft as well
01:59We can slow it down, but it's very hard to stop
02:17What we need is your support and your donations
02:19I'm going to put forward a million dollars
02:21And I was hoping that all of you could contribute in any way, shape or form
02:25Every dollar counts, that money goes directly to the firefighters
02:28The people on the front lines, the people who have suffered, the communities that have taken a hit
02:32And who are in desperate need of our support
02:36I was having a cup of tea yesterday
02:38And a little old lady came up to me and gave me a hug
02:41And I actually had tears
02:43You just need people knowing what you're doing
02:45We're just trying to do our best
02:53Fire
02:59Fire
03:03I'm spending my holidays out here
03:05Helping work with the rest of the team
03:07And helping the community, doing what we can to hopefully
03:10Get these fires out and keep everybody safe
03:20It is necessary to ensure that we can provide this safety net for income loss
03:24To ensure that he is in a position to continue to call out this volunteer force
03:36I do it for my local community
03:38I do it for the township of Milligan
03:40And the people of Australia
03:42That's what I do it for
03:43I don't do it for you Scott Morrison
03:45I don't do it for any of you pricks in government, parliament, anything
03:50Our daily jobs at the moment
03:52Is to protect communities and keep firefighters and community members safe
03:56From these huge fires
03:58This is probably one of the most significant fire seasons Australia has seen
04:03And to have multiple fires in all states
04:05Our firefighters remain motivated
04:07We're still getting thousands of volunteers
04:10Put their hand up every day
04:12To come and help others
04:14And it's not only volunteer firefighters
04:16It's also other people assisting in recovery efforts
04:19Whether that's helping farmers build fences
04:21Help people clean up their properties
04:23Huge donations of food
04:25Huge donations of clothing
04:27And other materials to assist the recovery effort
04:30With so many homes lost
04:32I suppose it's an Australian tradition
04:34We rally around our mates
04:35We get around people that have suffered loss or hardship
04:38And we help
04:39We have seen a number of firefighters killed in this operation
04:46That puts horrible pressure on our people
04:50But they go on
04:52They show up the next day
04:54And they do what has to be done to protect our communities
04:56The selflessness of our firefighters has been unbelievable
05:03Briefings last week ahead of very significant fire danger days
05:07All of the crews knew they were putting themselves in harm's way
05:11To protect our tourists
05:13To protect small communities in the east of the state
05:16They did that selflessly
05:18They did it with great courage
05:20And they continue to do it
