00:00I photoshopped the actor John Cho's face onto a bunch of well-known movie posters to kind
00:14of make the point that Asian Americans can play any range of roles, that we don't always
00:19have to be stereotyped into the nerd or the tech whiz or the sidekick, and instead can
00:25play leading roles.
00:26I'm home.
00:28I'm home.
00:29Can you forgive?
00:30Are you any good at that?
00:45Being a fan of TV, being a fan of film, and never really seeing myself truly represented,
00:50I wanted to take a moment to try to create a project that would spark a reaction.
00:58We must fight back!
01:06The Asian characters and the Asian roles were taken out and instead substituted with white
01:10actors and refigured to fit a white aesthetic.
01:22I think we're seeing little bits of improvement coming out of Hollywood that suggests that
01:26this conversation is picking up steam and this is something that a lot of executives
01:30are paying attention to.
01:32As the conversation gets louder and as more people demand it, it's something that the
01:36industry will also have to react to.
01:38So your family is rich?
01:40We're comfortable.
01:41That is exactly what a super rich person would say.
01:52We're getting to a point where now we just don't want to be represented in terms of what
01:55we consume, but we want to be represented in the actual participation of a lot of these
02:00mediums.
02:01And we want to see ourselves reflected in these ways.
