00:00I'm a man, even if I'm a trans man, and I deserve the right to compete, just like any other man.
00:19There's nothing no one can say or do that will make me doubt who I am, because I know who I am,
00:26and I'm worth risking all that ridicule to be myself.
00:40When I was going through puberty, I was dealing with a lot of gender dysphoria,
00:44basically feeling like my body was turning into something that did not align
00:48with the image in my head. I really looked up to the masculinity of fighters,
00:52and I told myself when I turned 16, I was going to start boxing.
01:15It's been difficult finding opponents throughout my amateur career, and then in my pro career,
01:20people assume that anyone male assigned at birth will defeat anyone female assigned at birth.
01:26The two things that people throw at me is that I'm a girl and therefore weaker,
01:30or when I win, like I did December 8th, they say things like, oh, well,
01:34it's not fair, that girl was roided up. So, you know, you can never make people happy.
01:39There needs to be more conversations in gyms about where are trans people's places in this sport.
01:46I'm really hopeful that when these conversations happen,
01:49that people are going to be more accepting in boxing of us.
