00:00And so I ask the committee, what is your plan to honor your oath and ensure my right, and the rights of young people around the nation, to liberty and a stable climate as mandated by the Constitution?
00:11While I am not a lawyer, nor a climate scientist, and I only recently came of voting age, I know that I have a constitutional right at stake in the actions you take.
00:37And I'm here to speak to you as a young person on the greatest issue of our time, climate change.
00:42It is the constitutional duty of the government to protect public trust resources on which we all depend, and to protect us from any damages that it may inflict upon its citizens.
00:52Instead, the government is taking actions that are directly contributing to the destruction of our planet.
00:58It is actively abusing the trust of its most vulnerable citizens.
01:02You have a choice. Will you deprive your children and young people across the country of their fundamental right to liberty, or will you fight to protect us and our nation for posterity?
01:12And I know from studying climate science and living with the consequences of climate change today, that my health, my community, and my future, and that of my generation, is at stake.
01:22What will you tell your children about responsibility if you fail to act now in the face of crisis?
01:27When you leave office, I want you to be able to walk away knowing you gave it your all, knowing you can be proud of the legacy that you leave.
01:34The moment is now. The moment is not for fear or incrementalism. This is the moment for heroism, for humanity, for standing with children around our country, standing with me.
