Scouted young, gone pro. From Indonesia to Norway: here's what playing soccer like a girl looks like around the world.
Transcript
00:00Hi everyone, I'm Sara Assam, Egyptian national team and Stoke City woman football player.
00:05Competitions are the great driver of development.
00:07It's time for member associations to invest in local leagues
00:10and increase the number of girls and youth participating in structured football competitions.
00:15Now is the time for all football stakeholders across Africa to support women competitions and initiatives.
00:21It's time. It's now.
01:31They gave me the confidence and they told me even though if you're a girl you can play football
01:35and with hard work and commitment you can achieve whatever you want.
01:40So giving young girls opportunities from day one and you'll get some cracking football in the end.
02:00It's certainly for the next generation to set them up so they don't have to fight the same battles as we do.
03:00What I think is beautiful with football is that it's accessible for everyone and it should be accessible for everyone.
03:29And I hope that an initiative like Dana Nation Cup can open the eyes for a lot of people
03:35to show that to be a young girl and to play football is completely normal
03:40and that's where at the point we should get one day.
03:43We're not there yet but I hope that all these girls all over the world find their ball, find their friends
03:50and kick around and that they believe in it because that's the most important thing to have fun and believe in yourself.
