00:00To me, that's the deeper question for us today as women.
00:04What happened?
00:06What's going on inside of us
00:08where we're still afraid to embrace a different vision of leadership?
00:23We have to develop them and we have to support them.
00:26Look, the reason why I don't want to run for president,
00:31I can't speak for Oprah, but my sense is that,
00:36first of all, you have to want the job.
00:38And it has to, you know, and you just can't say,
00:41well, you're a woman, run,
00:43because there are millions of women out here who are inclined,
00:46who do have the passion for politics.
00:56We've got to be willing, when we do find qualified people,
01:05to vote for them.
01:06And we didn't do that in this election.
01:08So I think people should be less disheartened by the fact
01:12that me and Oprah don't want to run,
01:14and more disheartened by the fact that Hillary Clinton,
01:17probably the most qualified person to ever seek the office of presidency,
01:22of the presidency, lost.
01:25She lost.
01:26That should be more discouraging to anybody out there.
01:30We have to remember that the power for change is within us.
01:34Yes.
01:35We are the answer that we seek.
01:37And we're here because, once again, a lot of people didn't vote.
01:42It's true.
01:44People sat out or people were hedging bets
01:47or women weren't comfortable voting for a woman, sadly.
01:52Especially in this room, we have to own that reality.
02:05There's a lot of leadership development that we need to do,
02:08and we need to see more women in the state house, in Congress,
02:12in the governor's houses.
02:14So you have to start building that pool from the bottom.
02:17And I think we have to do more to support young women
02:20to find out what their strengths are.
02:23And we will find a huge percent of them will be strong in politics,
02:28in policy, in strategy, in coordination, in organization.
02:33And we should develop those people to be the leaders that we want to run.
