Trump has hinted at a potential U.S. annexation of Greenland, sparking global outrage and geopolitical tensions. During a recent address, Trump claimed Greenland has been "abandoned" and needs U.S. protection, fueling speculation about America’s Arctic ambitions.

With Second Lady Usha Vance and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio visiting Greenland, Trump suggested the move was not a provocation but a step toward securing Greenland’s future under U.S. influence. He also pointed to Russia and China’s growing presence in the region, insisting that the current situation "cannot continue."

00:00A lot of people from Greenland that would like to see something happen.
00:03The wife of our first, of our great vice president, I think she's doing it.
00:09She's a brilliant woman.
00:10I think Greenland's going to be something that maybe is in our future.
00:13I think it's important.
00:15Again, they are in as a loan, which nobody knew until I came along.
00:21Europe is giving the money to Ukraine as a loan.
00:23We were just pouring money into Ukraine.
00:26It's a very unfair situation.
00:28Greenland is confused about the second lady and the national security advisor visiting
00:33this week.
00:34They're concerned that this is further provocation of whatever it is you ultimately want for
00:40Greenland.
00:40Could you further explain why they're going?
00:43What is the ultimate end goal?
00:44Yeah, well, not provocation.
00:46This is friendliness, not provocation.
00:49We're dealing with a lot of people from Greenland that would like to see something happen
00:54with respect to their being properly protected and properly taken care of.
00:58They're calling us.
00:59We're not calling them.
01:01And we were invited over there.
01:03And I thought it would be a great, I have great respect for the wife of our first, of
01:09our great vice president.
01:11I think she's doing it.
01:13She's a brilliant woman.
01:14She's a very nice woman.
01:17And she loves the concept of Greenland.
01:20And so she's going there.
01:21And I think Marco is going there and some others are going there.
01:25But we've been invited.
01:26And they really like the idea because they have been somewhat abandoned, as you know.
01:32They haven't been taken well, good care of.
01:36And I think Greenland is going to be something that maybe is in our future.
01:40I think it's important.
01:42It's important from the standpoint of international security.
01:45And if you look at the ships outside of Greenland, you have Russia, you have China, you have
01:50lots of different people and lots of different places.
01:53And it cannot go on the way it is.
01:56It's not going to go on the way it is.
01:58I'll make a statement.
01:59It's not going to happen.
02:00So they're going there.
02:02And that's purely friendship.
02:03Q Who's doing the invite?
02:05Is it people?
02:05THE PRESIDENT A lot of people, yeah.
02:07People, people from Greenland are asking us to go there.
02:09We have many, many requests from many, many people, some officials, too.
02:13Q Mr. President, also about Ukraine.
02:17In an interview with Time Magazine published this morning, President Zelensky said he believes
02:22that some members of your team have been influenced by Russian information.
02:25Those were his words.
02:27What do you have to say to that?
02:28THE PRESIDENT Well, probably they have been
02:31influenced to get this thing settled because Ukraine wants to see it settled.
02:36I think they have to have it settled.
02:37And Russia wants to see it settled.
02:39And I think if I weren't president, this would never happen.
02:42Marco is doing a great job.
02:44And Steve Whitkoff has been incredible.
02:48Michael Waltz.
02:49We have a great group of people working on it.
02:51And that takes a good part of their day, settling something that really – well,
02:57it affects us monetarily because we've given so much money.
03:00And we're getting that done.
03:01In fact, Scott has told me that the agreement on rare earths is just about completed.
03:06They'll sign it shortly.
03:08So it's – as you know, Europe is in for a very small fraction of what we're in for.
03:14It affects them much more than it affects us.
03:16And again, they are in as a loan, which nobody knew until I came along.
03:24Europe is giving the money to Ukraine as a loan.
03:26We were just pouring money into Ukraine.
03:29It was a very unfair situation.
03:31So we made a deal on rare earths.
03:32But what it is –
03:33QUESTION Are you signing the rare earths deal today?
03:35Is that what you mean?
03:36THE PRESIDENT No, we'll be signing it soon.
03:38It'll be signed very soon.
03:40QUESTION You recently mentioned the fate of all the
03:42Ukrainian children abducted and transported to Russia.
03:46So are you demanding that Russia return these kids to their families in Ukraine?
03:51THE PRESIDENT Well, it's one of the things that we're
03:52talking about.
03:53I know that no decision has been made.
03:56We're talking about territory right now.
03:59We're talking about lines of demarcation.
04:01We're talking about power plant ownership.
04:05Some people are saying the United States should own the power plant and then work it that way
04:10because we have the expertise to fix it up, et cetera, et cetera.
04:13It's okay.
04:14That would – something like that would be fine with me.
04:16But they are talking about ownership of the big nuclear power plant in particular.
04:21But all of these things will come up and they have come up.
04:23And that has been discussed, yes.
