Lucknow Super Giants assistant coach Lance Klusener has said that the team will have to continue to 'mix and match' till the injury crisis subsides after their loss to Delhi Capitals on Monday, March 24. LSG are currently without their frontline pacers and have lost Mohsin Khan for the entire season.

00:00What did I learn? I learned that possibly we need to make bigger partnerships when we're batting.
00:06I think we left some runs out there tonight and that was for us probably the biggest lesson.
00:11Always nice to see some of the youngsters as well, their first time in the IPL
00:16getting an opportunity and it's nice to see them in a big game what they can do as well. So
00:20lots of learnings, pity we were on the wrong side of the result but
00:24I think there's quite a few positives as well that we can take especially early on in the competition.
00:30Your top partner is an excellent player. You're doing around 8 or worse compared to
00:38around 9 or 10 minutes. But in the bowling set, do you have any doubt that the bowling is going to be easy?
00:46Yeah, look I mean the way that the bowling is set up because of injuries that we've got is
00:52always going to be on an evening like tonight is mix and match. Just going with someone who's
00:57got a bit of momentum trying to break their momentum as much as possible. It was always
01:02going to be spin heavy this evening as well unfortunately. We had to bowl last as well but
01:08it's not about making excuses. That was going to be the nature of our attack was going to be
01:14mix and match and yeah unfortunately we bowled well in patches but again you know we need to
01:22be more consistent with the ball. Is it any factor or was your match the most activating?
01:27No, I'm not going to make an excuse of the dew but it did it does play a role and it does play a role
01:31when you've got four spinners as well. But that's not really the excuse if
01:39I have to put a finger on it I would like to say we probably left 20 or 30 runs with the bat
01:45out there and that was probably why we ended up being under pressure with the ball.
01:50Will you change any bowling changes?
01:58Yeah, we'll have to look at the surface. At the moment we don't have a lot of reserves with the
02:02ball so we're going to have to just probably mix and match until we start getting players back but
02:07that's just the nature of it. We're going to have to stand up and stand tall with the bat
02:12in Hyderabad as we saw in the first game but yeah we're looking forward to that.
02:17But as I said it's opportunities for some youngsters as well getting their first opportunity.
02:22I thought I was really happy for Shardul Thakur as well, two wickets in the first over
02:27someone who's spent some time with us, got an opportunity to play this year's
02:32IPL. I thought he gave us a great start as well.
02:35So what's your opinion about the opponent's position for the team players?
02:43Delhi? I thought they bowled really well, I mean they did but
02:51Mosh and Puran played equally as well but I think for them the way
02:58they finished that partnership at the end there was outstanding and the way
03:03they finished was something that put us under pressure. I think the lesson there is that
03:08if you're batting second, especially when there's a little bit of moisture out there,
03:13you're always in the game and they showed us that tonight. They were under pressure
03:17and I thought they finished well.
03:21No, not at all. I think 2-10, if you look at the numbers on this ground, I think
03:262-10 is generally a winning score and as I said earlier we got a really inexperienced bowling
03:33attack because we've got a lot of injuries and sometimes that happens when the opposition puts
03:38you under pressure but we only learn about that when the game is on really and
03:45we can adapt and as we go but I just thought, as I said earlier, it was one of those games
03:51where we would have to mix and match and maybe one over from this side and one over from there
03:56and that's kind of what we did. It didn't work out, I thought they finished well with the bat
04:03but the reason why we're in that position because we didn't score enough runs which
04:07we should have. Sir, as per your observation, which ball is better, bowling or batting?
04:18Look, I thought when the bowlers got it right there was a little bit of spin so I thought it
04:23was a very good wicket. It was a little bit in there for everybody. I thought bowling was
04:29probably a little bit tougher than the batting but that's why I'm saying possibly with the
04:36experience and the bowling and the batting power we have, I think we left a few runs out there this
04:42evening. Sir, this season, first game you lost, so it will impact more pressure on upcoming games,
04:52so how do you overcome that? Yeah, I think we play in three days' time so we've got to just
04:57make sure and especially it's youngsters as well so we just need to keep them positive,
05:00we need to keep them believing in their ability. Sometimes the opposition is allowed to play
05:05well, they do have good nights as well so it's just about making sure we keep them positive,
05:10we keep them fresh and we back them again in the next game. Sir, how is the Vizag overall stadium
05:17ambience? How do you feel? I've thoroughly enjoyed it. It's the first time for me, I've been to pretty
05:25much most cities in India over the past I think 30 years but I haven't been here and it was
05:31awesome. I think the crowd was awesome, I thought the sound system was awesome as well
05:37and that always makes a huge difference but the weather is the same for me as in Durban,
05:42it's that same hot and humid weather. I loved it, it's beautiful and I'll be back.
