00:00A cybersecurity expert said discrepancies in personal information on the MyCut can potentially

00:07cause Malaysians to lose out on receiving targeted aid.

00:12Asel Rajesh pointed out, if details on the MyCut do not match official records or the

00:17person's application for subsidies, the system may not recognize them as being in the right

00:22category, such as low-income households or senior citizens.

00:26He said other common issues related to MyCuts included damage to the microchip, biometric

00:31data mismatch, and fraudulent use if they were stolen or counterfeited.

00:36The MyCut is already being used to credit aid to eligible recipients under the Sumbangan

00:41Asas Rama Initiative.

00:43Last year, the government also announced that it had conducted a 20-month pilot project

00:48involving MyCuts and e-wallets to prepare for the targeted RON95 fuel subsidy.

00:54Rajesh said robust data privacy policies and strict auditing mechanisms must be put

00:59in place to prepare for potential issues such as data breaches.

01:03He also said public awareness campaigns could help Malaysians understand the security features

01:08of MyCut and their role in accessing subsidies or government services.
