00:00Meanwhile, the four non-pulpit panels of Bolhoon Church were formally reinstalled in the 1980s.

00:09According to experts, this was due to the impact of the destruction of the ancient buildings of the churches there.

00:18Jessie Atienza of PTV Cebu is in the center of the news.

00:23The local residents and devotees of the Archdiocesan Shrine of Nuestra Senora del Patrocinio de Maria Santissima in Bolhoon were shocked.

00:35They were grateful that the four non-pulpit panels were successfully reinstalled in the church in the 1980s,

00:43which were later blotted out by the authorities as stolen items.

00:48The 88-year-old Francisca went to the church to attend the Pontifical Mass.

00:55She is one of those who left the non-pulpit panels because of its beauty.

01:02The non-pulpit panels are very beautiful.

01:06They were stolen by the police.

01:21In the first instance, the non-pulpit panels were blotted out again by the Cebuans,

01:25which were returned to the pulpit where Archbishop Jose Palma paid his respects

01:31and were thanked for their help in returning the panels to their homes.

01:35The National Museum of the Philippines and the Cebu Provincial Government are included in this list,

01:40led by Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia.

01:43According to experts, the ancient and sacred items in the church were stolen in the 1980s.

01:51First of all, they are ancient. They are unique.

01:55Like these non-pulpit panels, they are unique to Bolhoon.

01:58I think that's the reason why people collect.

02:01And they are proud of their fellow collectors.

02:06I think it has to do with ego.

02:09I have money and I collect.

02:12I know how to do art.

02:14I have this kind of collections.

02:17So there are a lot of motivations for people.

02:20They forgot that these are sacred objects.

02:23In 2024, the public again saw the four panels

02:27donated by a private family to the National Museum of the Philippines.

02:33It started with a series of talks and negotiations until the NMP,

02:39Cebu Provincial Government and the Archdiocese of Cebu

02:43were able to return these to their true home, the town of Bolhoon.
