00:00You know me, man.
00:06The stories are the most important thing.
00:07I call myself Black Forrest Gump, but it was great to be able to get these people together.
00:12These are the people that we've watched for so many years.
00:15Every time somebody came on the screen, come on, Viola, Halle, Denzel, all right, okay.
00:25All right, okay.
00:26I mean, it's just amazing.
00:29And then you sit back and realize, ooh, we done gave a lot.
00:32We've given a lot.
00:33It feels good to know we're rising.
00:34We still rising no matter what they do.
00:36We're still rising.
00:37I agree.
00:38Just because there's so many opportunities with streaming to tell a varied amount of
00:43stories and we are discovering that we are not a monolith.
00:46You know, we have Anthony Mackie as Captain America.
00:49We have Sterling K. Brown making everybody compelled to watch television every Tuesday.
00:56You know what I mean?
00:57So I think that this is a great time to be Black and to be a storyteller.
01:01I am so excited about the filmmakers that we currently have, the storytellers that we
01:07currently have behind the camera because, you know, I feel like our characters, we're
01:13getting the opportunity to really express very nuanced sides of our personality.
01:19You must believe that God has called you here because if God has called you here, he is
01:24committed to your success.
01:26You will not fail.
01:28It's always good to reflect.
01:29I mean, you know, when we look at it, what does reflection does?
01:31It gives us a time to, you know, think about how far we've come, appreciate what's in front
01:35of us and then to have more motivation to just press on.
01:38So I feel that this film really embodies that.
01:40The experiences at Denzel and I see some great actors over there, some great actors, is that
01:47their work, if we're referring to comedy, I can give you of what I feel like I'm worth
01:52or what I believe that I should be paid due to my work I've done.
01:56As an actor, I believe that they've done that work so they know the work.
02:01You got to know the worth of your work.
02:03So him asking for what he believes he should get or what a woman, a black actress, believe
02:06in what she believes she should get because she's seen the numbers, not just how you feel
02:10in your emotion, not just because you know you're the, because we all need this confidence
02:13just to walk around.
02:14Had you not have the confidence to walk around, you can never be number one anything in life.
02:18There's not just no call.
02:19She says no callbacks.
02:21It's dope to be number one on the call sheet, but you don't want to outsource your happiness
02:26to a number.
02:28What's really dope is to make the call sheet because you don't want to just play basketball,
02:33you want to what?
02:34It's also important to own the team, you know, and especially for people of color so we can
02:39get, we can get, oh, I've got to be this, I've got to be that, and somehow that happiness
02:43is external.
02:44No, man, being here with your son, being healthy, being, getting to see brothers like this and
02:50sisters like you who give us a voice, that's the way.
