00:00Let's start with the headlines.
00:24On March 22, World Water Day, Morocco is making great efforts to manage water resources
00:33in the face of difficult future challenges.
00:35In Geneva, non-governmental organizations are calling on the Human Rights Council to suppress
00:43freedoms in the Tindouf camps and to remove the police from punishment.
00:51In Gaza, there are reports of an Israeli plan to completely annex the region, and talks
00:56about a ceasefire are on the way.
01:07The beginning of the publication is dedicated to World Water Day and the challenges related
01:11to this vital wealth.
01:21Today is also an opportunity to shed light on the challenges related to water.
01:28In Morocco, this day is celebrated through awareness campaigns and projects aimed at
01:34promoting water consumption in the region.
01:37In Morocco, this day is celebrated through awareness campaigns and projects aimed at
01:42promoting water consumption in the region.
01:45In Libya, this day is celebrated through awareness campaigns and projects aimed at promoting
01:52water consumption and sustainability.
01:54Preservation of the waterfront and ensuring its sustainable management is one of the priorities
01:59in the face of increasing water demand and ensuring the right of future generations to this vital
02:05resource.
02:07The world is celebrating World Water Day today.
02:13Preservation of the ice floes was chosen as the topic of World Water Day in 2025.
02:20The United Nations said that ice floes melt faster than any time in the past, and that
02:27blocking the ice floes could lead to destruction, emphasizing that preserving the ice floes is
02:34a strategic priority for sustainability.
02:36Omar Shumlali.
02:40Preservation of the ice floes was chosen as the topic of World Water Day in 2025.
02:49The United Nations is working to preserve the ice floes in the framework of the fight
02:56against climate change and the global water crisis.
03:02These ice floes are huge reservoirs of water that melt today at an unprecedented rate
03:10under the influence of global warming.
03:14The melting of these huge ice floes weakens the global water balance and puts millions
03:22of people around the world at risk.
03:26The rapid reclamation of these huge ice floes leads to floods, droughts, and rising sea
03:34levels in various parts of the world.
03:39In the short term, the rapid melting of ice floes leads to rising natural hazards,
03:46especially floods.
03:49In the long term, these floods come in second place among the factors that cause the sea
03:57level to rise after the phenomenon of the ocean melting.
04:02According to the World Meteorological Organization, more than 600 billion tons of ice floes
04:11were lost in 2023, an unprecedented number in the past five decades.
04:21In order to face this situation, the United Nations emphasizes the importance of carrying
04:29out global reductions in carbon emissions and implementing local strategies to adapt
04:37to climate change.
04:42Morocco faces a major challenge in water resources management due to climate change,
04:48and the Kingdom adopts a water policy that aims to ensure water security and enhance
04:54sustainability.
04:55Mariam Tsouri
04:58From large dams to sea water treatment plants, and from water consumption to modern
05:04irrigation systems and other measures, Morocco is intensifying its efforts to secure its
05:10water future and ensure the sustainability of this vital asset.
05:15The Kingdom is focusing heavily on the water crisis facing this country, and the royal
05:21speech on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the throne gave a clear identification of
05:28the crisis and emphasized the need for a continuous implementation of the national water policy
05:33mechanisms.
05:34The most prominent of which are the royal decrees that guarantee the provision of water suitable
05:40for drinking for all citizens, 80% at least of the needs of tap water, and give special
05:46importance to the reasonable use of dry water with the protection of the water brush, in
05:53addition to the completion of the dam construction program, with the prior provision of
05:58programmed projects in areas that know important falls.
06:02According to the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the Kingdom has several water-based
06:09projects distributed between 154 large dams and 150 small and medium-sized dams, in addition
06:17to the establishment of 16 sea-water desalination stations with a production capacity of up to
06:24277 million cubic meters, as well as 17 water-bearing facilities.
06:32Despite this noticeable development and ongoing efforts at the level of projects, Morocco
06:38faces water challenges like no other country, the most prominent of which are climate changes
06:44and the increasing demand for water due to population growth and agricultural and industrial
06:50expansion.
06:51However, the Kingdom is moving towards achieving a sustainable water security that is capable
06:57of overcoming environmental challenges.
07:03The Sahba al-Harshah mining station has become a cornerstone in ensuring the self-sufficiency
07:10of drinking water in the Tantan region, where it supplies the cities of Tantan, Al-Ghoutia
07:15and Ben Khalil centers with sufficient quantities to ensure the continuity of supplying water
07:20without interruption.
07:21The station, which joined the service in 2014, relies on reverse irrigation techniques to
07:27dissolve water with a production capacity of up to 100 liters per second and with a financial
07:33investment of 270 million dirhams.
07:36With the increasing population growth and agricultural expansion that the region is witnessing,
07:42the station has expanded to a capacity of up to 150 liters per second, which strengthens
07:48the sustainability of water resources and ensures the self-sufficiency of drinking water in the
07:54region in a strategic step towards securing this vital material for various communities
07:59and urban centers in the region.
08:02For more on this topic, we have with us from Tantan, our colleague Naamama Al-Ainin.
08:08Welcome, Naamama.
08:10At the beginning, we put in the picture how it is possible to stop on the waterways and
08:16waterways in the city of Tantan.
08:20We are now in one of the most important stations here in the city of Tantan, which is the
08:27removal of minerals in the desert, which supplies all of the city of Tantan, as well as Al-Watiyah
08:33and the Ibn Khalil community.
08:35This station, which has been operating since 2014, has suffered from a number of complaints,
08:41except that today it was able, after the expansion of the number of holes near the sea, to be
08:47able to supply the city of Tantan with drinking water.
08:5124 hours after 24 hours, the city witnessed a number of interruptions during the day and
08:57also during the night.
08:59But thanks to this station, and thanks to the cleaning of all the waterways leading to
09:03the city of Tantan, knowing that the city of Tantan is about 36 kilometers away from this
09:08station.
09:09And to know more about this station and the strategies taken to make drinking water
09:14suitable for the city, especially since it will witness in the coming years a large
09:19economic and development project.
09:21Ibrahim Al-Dhaif is with us, he is the regional director of the National Office for Electricity
09:25and Water in Tantan.
09:27Welcome.
09:28Hello.
09:29Thank you Median TV for the invitation.
09:32Mr. Al-Dhaif, what is the importance of this station in a region that witnesses a large
09:38development, especially since we know that it is not far from the port?
09:42The station of the removal of minerals in the desert is the main supplier of the city of
09:47Al-Watiyah with drinking water.
09:49Because of its 100 liters per second, it was achieved in 2014 with a financial sum of
09:54270 million dirhams.
09:56The station is now being expanded, in view of the long-term and economic development that
10:01the region knows.
10:03The station was expanded in order to meet the needs of the water for the medium and
10:09long term.
10:11We noticed the expansion of the number of water holes here by the sea, especially
10:16because we know that this station is based on the removal of minerals and not the
10:22desalination of sea water.
10:24What can you tell us about this technical process?
10:27The station, although it is located on the sea shore, uses a water brush that is not
10:35suitable for the sea water brush due to the lack of salinity.
10:41But the same techniques are used, i.e. the reverse salinity in the desalination of water.
10:48Why are you expanding the station?
10:55Does this mean that the demand for water is increasing, or in view of the long-term
11:00development that the region knows?
11:02In view of the long-term development and the expansion of the city's economic and
11:07water resources, and in view of international projects in coordination with local authorities,
11:13the office is committed to strengthening the supply of water to the two cities.
11:18Through the expansion of this station, which will reach 150 liters per second, God willing.
11:23Ibrahim Al-Dhaif, Regional Director of the National Office for Electricity and Water in
11:28Tantan, thank you.
11:30Thank you very much.
11:32As it is known, the city of Tantan has a very important water supply, but in view of
11:36the years of drought and in view of the exploitation of this water brush, as it is
11:43known, the city's water reaches the eyes and the inside due to the connection of its
11:49inhabitants to the desert with tea.
11:51However, it is now facing a great exploitation, which led to the exploitation of this
11:56station and the supply of the city with salt groundwater.
12:02Thank you very much.
12:07Thank you, dear guest.
12:20Non-governmental desert organizations in the 58th round of the Human Rights Council in
12:26Geneva, by violations and repression of the freedoms suffered by the displaced people
12:31in the Tindouf camps in Algeria.
12:33Thus, the police chief was dismissed from the penalty.
12:36The organizations emphasized in an intervention in the context of the fourth round of the
12:41general discussion that the human rights situation in the Tindouf camps requires urgent
12:47attention, as the population faces dangerous violations in the absence of any lawful
12:53intervention.
12:54She pointed out that the police continue to impose repressive policies, silence the opposition
12:59and deprive the population of their basic rights.
13:02The organizations said that the police watch out for political parties and impose strict
13:07restrictions on freedom of expression, while exercising coercion against those defending
13:12human rights, journalists, activists and lawyers.
15:49In the Polisario group, any opposition is pushed to its main goal in a systematic way, as is the case with political parties in Syria.
15:57The Polisario group imposes strict restrictions on freedom of expression and seeks to constrain those who defend human rights, journalists, activists, and bloggers.
16:04The Polisario group practices strong measures against all forms of opposition, as well as against those who defend human rights who do not share their views with their attitudes.
16:12Opposition to the accusation of treason is still a common practice among the leaders and members of the Polisario group, under the guise of maintaining unity.
16:19The violations that the Polisario group imposes on human rights defenders in the Dufqa camps are prevented by the Algerian State,
16:27which is fully responsible for the violations that are committed on its land, according to international law.
16:34Despite the fact that the Algerian state promotes the right of the Sahrawi refugees to speak,
16:39it refuses to allow the Dufqa refugees to speak in the Dufqa camps, and thus deprives them of the rights that the law gives them,
16:45according to the agreements and protocols related to the situation of the refugees.
16:52On the fifth day of the Israeli bombing of Gaza, after Israel's support of the ceasefire agreement,
17:00the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported on security sources that a large-scale military operation is being prepared to occupy the entire Gaza Strip,
17:09and that the talks to return to the border have reached a deadlock.
17:13In the field, reports mentioned that Israeli bombings targeted several areas in the city of Gaza,
17:19and in the Western Dufqa, media sources said that the Israeli army forces invaded the town of Beit Janouba Nablus and fired live bullets.
17:29And that confrontations broke out between the Palestinians and the Israeli army forces following their invasion of the town of Azoun, east of Qalqilya.
17:43This is the end of the broadcast. Thank you for watching. Goodbye.
