00:00Thank you, thank you everyone.
00:10I've never had an experience after having done over 80 town halls as before in my time.
00:17It's important for us to have our voices heard, to have a human voice.
00:24It really feels like we are watching the chaos party do whatever the heck they want, and
00:30we are still abiding by a system that no longer applies to the average voter.
00:36We're the ones that are getting hurt by this.
00:41One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
00:49I am President of Local Teams for Street 31, my mentor Marcus King, many of you know him.
00:56So, I don't want to bore you anymore, I know that you're here to see the super rock star.
01:01And as each day goes on and the chaos grows more and more, people want to see some action.
01:08And with all respect for the processes of law, I'm not encouraging the opposite of that,
01:15but I am saying that they're playing by a completely different set of rules.
01:20We need our reps to be a little more proactive and out front with how we can help.
01:28To give him a thank you.
01:34When he was honoring and telling the stories of the people.
01:39First and foremost, what I'll say, and again, this is my beliefs, based off of what I have seen,
01:45and it's something that I believe is a concern to everybody.
01:50But there is just no doubt in my mind that this president is abusing his power.
01:58That we are not on the cusp of a constitutional crisis, we are in a constitutional crisis.
02:05Just bring this home a little bit more.
02:09I've never had a town hall that I convened where I felt like there is so much at stake right now.
02:16That there is so much uncertainty about what comes next.
02:20I'm sure you feel it too, you know, you have that anxiety that you feel.
02:24And I know, look, it's people across the political spectrum, everybody right now.
02:29We have no idea what is happening next in our country.
02:35And when we see that, when we see what it came to, what Speaker Johnson put forth.
02:39I'll say, just very up front here, that I disagree strongly with how Senator Schumer moved forward on this.
02:55I understand the concerns that are out there.
02:57And look, the question here was about what gives President Trump more power?
03:03What gives him power to be able to dismantle the government, to do harm?
03:07So, yes, I understand the fundamental question.
03:10I also understand there was no good answer there.
03:15I would have rather seen them not vote or vote against it, but have something to negotiate with.
03:23And they really didn't have it.
03:24I do believe that the worst part of it would have been a shutdown that would have given Trump and Musk more control.
03:33I've been frustrated.
03:51And my frustration levels got to the point where my 32-year-old daughter actually said to me,
03:58this is not healthy for you because I was taking it out on social media and just blasting things out into the Internet that weren't doing any good.
04:07And her point to me was, start going to some events.
04:11Does the message you're trying to convey even get to the people you're trying to talk to?
04:16And so often the answer is no.
04:18And so that's why events like this, going straight to the people and be able to do this in a relentless fashion is so critical.
04:26Now, again, we're going to have lots of differences, I'm sure.
04:29But what we record, we're already seeing this problem, right?
