00:00My name is Simon Hester, I am the Chair of Hastings and District Trades Union Council,
00:05which groups together all the trade unions in Hastings, and today we are launching a
00:09petition calling on Helena Dollimore to vote against the proposed cuts to disability benefits.
00:17The cuts are going to hurt and harm many thousands of people across the country and especially
00:23in Hastings. Many people in Hastings are on disability benefits, on PIPs and so on, and
00:29we think the government should be instead looking to implement a wealth tax to fund
00:38public services, education, benefits, the welfare system. They can find money for war,
00:44but they seem not to be able to find money for the poor, and this is outrageous. So we
00:48are calling on Helena Dollimore to reject the government policy, to join the other Labour
00:53Party MP rebels and vote against the proposal to cut disability benefits.
