Jaguar cars gamble on all-electric fleet
The British luxury car manufacturer Jaguar, owned by the Indian company Tata Motors, presents its new electric car, the Jaguar Type 00, in Paris, which it intends to make the symbol of its radical repositioning. ‘Part of the challenge was to make Jaguar relevant, sustainable and truly reliable for a new, younger target audience,’ explains CEO Rawdon Glover.

00:00I feel amazing, I feel like batman.
00:28Right, okay.
00:29That's about as elegant as I can get.
00:30That's about as elegant as I can get.
01:01Type 00 is a very clear manifestation of all of the future Jaguars that will come.
01:08In terms of the design language, the proportions, the drama that the vehicle has,
01:14this will give a very clear indication as to what the first production car will have.
01:20In terms of the new core buyer, we expect them probably to be a little bit younger than our current audience,
01:27maybe between 35 and 50.
01:31They'll have certain mindsets, so definitely an interest in design, an interest in technology,
01:37but really independent thinkers, people that want to choose brands that say something about themselves,
01:43and brands that really want to stand out.
01:46Part of the challenge for us was to make Jaguar relevant, sustainable,
01:52and really viable for a new target audience.
01:57And one of our challenges is that people weren't talking about Jaguar at all.
02:01So from my perspective, the fact that we've had all of this focus,
02:04the fact that there was probably a two-week period,
02:07in fact we knew for three days it was the most talked about subject anywhere on the planet on social media,
02:12that gave us an incredible platform upon which to present the new design language.
02:17So I think once people understand the why,
02:20and understand this is not a literal re-modification of some of our classic models,
02:26but it absolutely is rooted in the DNA of the brand,
02:30once people understand that, actually we've found that people really are much more accepting of it,
02:36and what we're also finding is that people just do love the design.
