01:04About this time, you and I be tangled up Yeah, but that's alright
01:09This fire's been keepin' me warm enough
01:14Holdin' on to you, girl, who needs that? I got a wide-knuckle grip on a whiskey glass
01:19And when it gets down to ice, I just fill it back up

02:25Willie on my left, Jack on my right Blowin' that smoke on a Friday night
02:30Well, I turned up on the JBL, girl You probably think I'm goin' through hell
02:35But I don't care if you never come back Cause who needs you when I got friends like this?
02:42Yeah, girl, I got friends like this Yeah, I got friends like this
02:55Thank you guys so much.
03:04This next song we're about to do for you is one that I came up with while we were out on the road.
03:12We've been keeping the roads hot in the last couple years, playing shows on the weekends.
03:17And it occurred to me when we were coming back from a long trip,
03:22and we hit our exit to go into Nashville.
03:25And I remember thinking, there's no better feeling than this, knowing that I'm about to be home.
03:29And so I tried to capture that into this song when we were writing it.
03:33And I hope you guys enjoy it. It's called Long Ride Home.
03:40Long Ride Home
03:54The sun's setting on the state line of Alabama
03:59Watching the welcome sign fly by, little redhead in my eyes
04:04Got the radio up and my Ray-Bans on
04:08Two thousand miles can get a little lonely
04:11When there's a voice on the phone saying, baby, come back
04:15That angel waiting on the other side of mourning
04:18Keeps the horses running fast
04:21It's gonna be a long ride home
04:27Rollin' eighteen wheels down an open road
04:31A heart and a haul, that kind of heavy load
04:35It's just another long night alone
04:41But she's on my mind since eighty-five, never felt so full
04:48It's gonna be a long ride home
04:58Lookin' nowhere town, another neon truck stop
05:03Midnight pullin' and fillin' up, little coffee in my cup
05:08Couple scratch-offs and a pack of smokes
05:12It ain't easy on her, me bein' gone
05:16But it's nothin' new, that's just the way it is
05:21When you got a job that somebody's gotta do
05:25It's gonna be a long ride home
05:32Rollin' eighteen wheels down an open road
05:36A heart and a haul, that kind of heavy load
05:40It's just another long night alone
05:46But she's on my mind since eighty-five, never felt so full
05:52It's gonna be a long ride home
06:02It's all exit signs, wide broken lines
06:05Just livin' them highway songs
06:09Puttin' in the work, till I get to her
06:13Yeah, I'll keep keepin' on this long ride home
06:22Rollin' eighteen wheels down an open road
06:26A heart and a haul, that kind of heavy load
06:30It's just another long night alone
06:37But she's on my mind since eighty-five, never felt so full
06:43It's gonna be a long ride home
06:48Oh yeah, a long ride home
06:56Oh yeah, it's gonna be a long ride home
07:27We got some food going for you, my man
07:31Thanks for hanging with Billboard
07:33Thanks for having me
07:34Well, we gotta talk about that first song you did
07:36Friends Like That, that got you Rookie of the Month at Billboard
07:39So did you think a song about bromance was gonna get you this far?
07:43No, I didn't, man
07:44We were just trying to make a fun song out of a serious subject, I guess
07:48And I didn't really think that it would be kind of the song that put us on the map
07:52But here we are, man, it's been awesome
07:54And I mean, you're not new to this
07:55You've been songwriting in Nashville with Jason Aldean
07:57And then he joined you on the track, so how was that full circle moment?
08:00It was cool, man
08:01I've been writing for him for four or five years now
08:04And so I told him, I was like, man, I've written enough songs for you
08:07It's time for you to help me out
08:08It's been really fun to kind of watch it do its thing at radio
08:11And yeah, it just broke top ten at Billboard, so I'm really excited
08:15Yeah, on the country airplay charts, my man
08:17Yeah, it's really cool, man
08:18It's been really fun for me
08:20One of my favorite things about country music is the lyrics, man, the storytelling
08:23So I heard you doing Long Ride Home
08:25And man, I could really hear the personal story in your voice
08:28So where's the inspiration for that track?
08:30Yeah, that one, you know, just, we've been on the road so much in the last couple years
08:35That I just really wanted to capture the feeling of, you know
08:40What it's like when you're on a long trip and you come home
08:43And for me, it was seeing that exit that took us back to Nashville
08:47And it just, there's no better feeling than that to me
08:50And so I tried to capture that into this song when we were writing it
08:53And hopefully it's pretty relatable to some people
08:55I love that song, but I know the full album's gonna be out in April
08:58You're giving us a little preview with a new song, Kid Myself
09:01What can we expect?
09:02Yeah, this song, Kid Myself, is something that kind of opens me up
09:07On the personal side of things
09:09Talks about a previous relationship back when I was in North Carolina
09:12And I think for me, it's almost like an apology letter, in a sense
09:19Also, it's something for me to just give myself a little grace
09:22You know, I was young back then
09:24And that's what the song talks about, being a kid myself
09:27And I think it's just a statement of, you know, being able to move on with life
09:32Sometimes you gotta do that, and you can't get hung up on stuff
09:35So hopefully other people can resonate with that, too
09:38Well, that's definitely something we all can relate to, man
09:40I'm gonna grab a hot dog while you do your thing
09:42Bringing the vibes to Billboard Live, we got John Morgan with Kid Myself
09:46Yeah, can't wait, let's get to it
09:48This is so much fun, y'all, thank you for hanging out
09:55We got an album coming out April 25th, so y'all stay tuned for that
10:00A lot of these songs are gonna be on it
10:02We're gonna play Kid Myself next, the one I was just talking about
10:08I hope you guys enjoy this one
10:18guitar solo
10:42We were young, we were wild
10:45It was fun on the run for a while
10:48But you grew up, girl, and I should've
10:51Wouldn't be kicking myself if I would've
10:54Gotten out of the bars, out of the scene
10:57Gave you my heart and everything in between
11:00Just like you deserve, sorry I couldn't get
11:04You were hanging in a house with a dog and a couple of kids
11:08I was just a kid myself
11:11I was just a kid myself, yeah
11:14You know better than to wish you well
11:17Baby, if you never could tell
11:21I ain't proud of how it all went down
11:24If I could've taken it all back now
11:27I'd be lying if I said I wasn't wishing you
11:30Wishing me like hell
11:32I don't wanna get myself
11:37No, I don't wanna get myself
11:45I know I was wrong, you think I was right
11:48Taking the easy road after the fight
11:51I should've stayed, girl, for what it was worth
11:54I bet this you and me on the thing would've worked
11:58But I was just a kid myself
12:01I was just a kid myself, did it
12:05Know better than to wish you well
12:08Baby, if you never could tell
12:11I ain't proud of how it all went down
12:14If I could've taken it all back now
12:17I'd be lying if I said I wasn't wishing you
12:20Wishing me like hell
12:22But I don't wanna get myself
12:27No, I don't wanna get myself
12:35I don't wanna get myself
12:38Thinking the last kiss wasn't the last
12:41You probably would've called by now
12:45If you ever wanted this boy back
12:48But I don't wanna get myself
12:51Girl, I was just a kid myself, did it
12:55Know better than to wish you well
12:58Baby, if you never could tell
13:02I ain't proud of how it all went down
13:05If I could've taken it all back now
13:08I'd be lying if I said I wasn't wishing you
13:11Wishing me like hell
13:13But I don't wanna get myself
13:18No, I don't wanna get myself
13:24Girl, I was just a kid myself
13:30Oh-oh-oh-oh
13:54Guys, thank you so much for tuning in.
13:56This has been so awesome.
