We took a look around the VLRNIC to see what really goes on inside.

00:00railway yeah we're at the very light railway innovation center in Dudley as you can see
00:05behind me it's a CVLR coming up the track this is the future you guys have a look
00:12it can go 50 kilometers without needing to be charged again
00:17and can have about 50 grams on seats i think
00:20very futuristic, very cool, very fast
00:28cool yeah it is quite cool thank you whoa should we just squeeze in just a quick
00:58i am CTO of TRIVA so rails like these all around the UK we can generate energy from these rails
01:11we will be able to get a huge amount of energy from those potential rails that's what we are
01:17doing we make TRIVA turbines we make we put these turbines on side of roads railways and highways
01:24so when fast moving transport passes by we'll be able to uh the moving airflow from those parts of
01:30transport will generate wind and drive our turbine to generate energy we'll be able to
01:36we will be able to power local infrastructure like lighting and also even charging stations
01:42our turbine has this especially special design way so that it has a twice the overall energy
01:50efficiency than the alternative on the market it has a very long lifetime so it would
01:58it is not expected to break anytime within 10 years and it has a rated lifetime of 15 years
02:06it has a protected maintenance system so we will be able to monitor all of its arm and
02:15uh see how many fatigue cycle it is going through and give it its maintenance where it's needed and
02:21when it's needed it has a very small land footprint compared to other renewable energy
02:29solutions like solar or the huge wind turbine which does not generate as much energy and
02:35is not as efficient as either so yeah that's uh that's our turbine we're putting our best effort
02:44to make the transport center green thank you so does this generate more energy than like the
02:50wind turbines that you see you know the regular ones did you say uh in terms of efficiency the
02:56in terms of efficiency we are higher uh we are a one kilowatt turbine like the one here obviously
03:03the train time and the train speed would affect this but if it's not on the side of the railway
03:12the turbine that's generating one kilowatt will be over 2.8 meters i see well it's very tall so
03:21yeah in terms of efficiency we are higher than thank you if we were obviously not able to compete
03:27with those huge offshore turbines like 100 meters tall yeah
