00:05aiming to acquire a firm in crypto or related industries, according to a registration statement
00:10filed Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
00:13Renata's Tactical Acquisition Corp. 1, a special-purpose acquisition company incorporated
00:18in the Cayman Islands, is looking to raise at least $179 million through both an initial
00:24public offering and private placement funds it plans to use to acquire other businesses.
00:30Renata's Tactical is targeting acquisitions in the cryptocurrency and blockchain, data
00:34security and dual-use technology sectors, industries with heavy government involvement
00:39as regulators or major clients, according to its SEC filing.
00:43The firm's leadership has deep ties to President Donald Trump's media company.
00:47Renata's Tactical CEO Eric Swider is a Trump Media board member and led the company that
00:52merged with it.
00:53Devin Nunes, CEO, President and Chair of Trump Media, also chairs Renata's Tactical's
00:58board.
00:59And Alexander Cano, Renata's Tactical's COO, was president and security of the firm
01:04that merged with Trump Media.
01:06Trump's connection to the founders of Renata's Tactical may not be entirely beneficial for
01:10the company.
01:11In its risk disclosure, the company warns that, quote, third parties may not want to
01:16engage with us to provide services due to the affiliation of our management team and
01:21our board of directors with TMTG and President Donald J. Trump.
01:26Trump appointees lead the SEC, Department of Justice, and Federal Trade Commission,
01:30agencies that oversee regulatory and legal reviews of mergers.
01:34Swider, Nunes, and spokespeople for Trump Media did not immediately respond to requests
01:39for comment.
