00:12bookish related videos for the next month or so and

00:15today if you clicked on this video you are going to be watching me read some very very popular very

00:22hyped up booktok books and I will let you know if they're actually worth the read and

00:27Also as part of the series you guys asked that I drink tea out of one of my fun little glasses today

00:33We have we have a pear. It is so freaking cute

00:36I will point out this is not tea

00:38But I'm going to be spilling tea today on all of the books that I'm reading so I felt like fair enough

00:44I'll drink my cute little juice in my glass and call it a win

00:51This is so fun

00:54Anyway

00:55It's time for us to get down to business

00:57so basically I thought it would be fun to pick like three or four really popular booktok books and

01:04Read them and let you guys know if they're actually worth the hype or not worth the hype and what it's all about because personally

01:10I have been

01:12misled by booktok before where I have thought a book was worth it and

01:17Seen all the hype about it and then read it and didn't like it

01:21I've also read books from booktok that were amazing and literally changed my life. So

01:26I'm here to answer that question for you guys

01:28I only have nine days until I have to turn this footage into a video

01:31So first we have onyx storm, which if you know, you know, we'll get into it

01:36second one is going to be quicksilver, which is a very very popular book that popped up in

01:422024 like the end of 2024 early 2025 which is now and then I'm going to read and change it up a little a

01:48Romance book called the unhoneymooners and last but not least

01:52Powerless, which is another really hyped up booktok book get ready buckle up. I'm about to drop some tea on these booktok books

02:01Okay, first up if you are anywhere near the book realm or the book world at all

02:07Then you have heard of fourth wing if you haven't but I don't know how fourth wing is like the epitome of a booktok

02:14Book that leads us into our very first book that I'm reading today, which is onyx storm

02:20So if you know fourth wing came out, which is the first one

02:23The second one came out which was iron flame and we've all been very patiently or impatiently

02:29Me impatiently waiting for onyx storm to come out and it released in January of 2025

02:34So literally like a month ago and I am dying to read it

02:38But I will say the reviews are a little mixed on this one

02:43So I'm not sure if I'm gonna be happy with the way the book is written or unhappy

02:47Let's get into reading some of these reviews of onyx storm

02:50First of all, I feel like it's important to point out that it has a four point three four star rating on Goodreads

02:57Based on the stars. It makes me think that I'm gonna love it, but you never know again misleading

03:03I screenshotted one five star and one one star for every single book the five star for onyx storm

03:08This is what she wrote. She said seven stars. Listen when I tell you this because I'm so for real

03:13This is hands-down

03:14not only the best book in the series by far but the best book that I have ever read Rebecca delivered with this one the

03:20Banter the plot the character development a hundred out of ten

03:22I read this all day in one sitting and under 24 hours and I literally might never read a book that can be on the

03:26same level as this

03:29Needless to say

03:31that

03:32makes me

03:34Excited that means I'm gonna like this book reading in under 24 hours. Yes, please

03:38I want to read it and never put it down. I want a seven out of five star book now

03:43Let us get into the one star review. I feel like people are just notorious for being absolutely

03:49Hilarious with their one-star reviews. This is one of them

03:53They said this book feels like someone is trying to describe the color brown to me for 500 pages. Oh

04:02Yeah, that means that they think it's boring I think that that's what that means

04:09Okay, hello last night I started on a storm and today I'm trying to read a ton

04:16I did not get very far last night in my defense. It was very late when I started reading

04:20It was like one o'clock in the morning and I'm going to read my heart out today

04:25So I can get further into this book maybe even finish it today or tomorrow. Let's see what I can pull off

04:34One thing I will say that I saw reviews of on book talk was that people were very

04:39Confused at the beginning of this book so far. I don't feel confused

04:43Maybe that's because I did a reread but four chapters in I'm feeling like I solidly know what's going on

04:49We'll see if that changes

05:09Okay, guys, it's the same day it is

05:13207 a.m. In the morning and I am officially halfway done with onyx storm

05:19I'm about I'm actually 26 chapters in

05:22220 pages in it is going very well

05:25I don't this is not boring the people that are saying this is boring and confusing

05:30I have concerns and questions because so much has already happened in the first half of the book

05:35I'm enthralled. I'm enthralled. I'm enthralled. So we've already debunked the one-star review

05:41So, let's see if it holds up to the five-star review, but halfway through and I'll keep reading tomorrow. But for now, it's bedtime

05:51Hello, we are back to reading another day of onyx storm

05:56I took the cover off. Um, it is day three of reading this

06:00So I have seven days left to read all of the other books

06:03I did end up reading a couple more chapters, even though it was four o'clock in the morning or three o'clock in the morning

06:09Um, I ended up reading until 4 a.m. Last night

06:12This is what happens when I start to find a book that I really love and I get like an

06:18Unhealthy amount of addicted and can't put it down. But so far. I'm having a great time

06:24Fourth-wing was a little bit. I call it fluffy fluff

06:26I don't know fluffy is the right word

06:27But it's a little bit like an entry level and this book is a little more

06:31Politicking it gets a little more deep into the fantasy realm a little bit deeper into the magic

06:35And so it might not be everyone's cup of tea

06:37But it sure as crap is mine and I just need to finish this portion of the book tonight or tomorrow and then I'll

06:44Fit you guys on what my reading is

06:58This is so random down here it says that it's mid-february and it's mid-february right now

07:04So we're in the same season. That's interesting

07:14This felt fitting for a dragon book for some reason so we're doing this one

07:25Okay, guys, I kid you not I went from the book nook to the parking lot of the movie theater

07:32Movie theater because

07:34Asa had planned a movie night with our friends, but because I have so little time

07:40To read all four books in this video. I am spending every hour every minute I can reading so I am

07:49Blazing through onyx storm while eating movie theater popcorn, and I'm having a great time

07:54321 pages in keep up the good work. Okay, it has finally come

07:59I am literally 10 pages away from finishing onyx storm

08:03I thought I'd record me finishing it and then I'm gonna give my thoughts

08:30Oh

08:32Okay, obviously I just finished onyx storm you all saw me gasp

08:37I'm not gonna spoil anything for anyone but no surprise

08:40It's a crazy ending, which is how every single book is ended to be honest, but my final thoughts on this

08:47Absolutely freaking worth the hype

08:50Absolutely worth every second of the hype whoever said it's boring is wrong

08:56At least in my opinion that was so not boring

08:59There was so much happening in this book like almost to the level of like you can't even keep it all straight

09:06There's so much happening. So boring is not what I would describe this as it was so good

09:11So entertaining and once again

09:13I'm left feeling like I need to reread the book so that I can pick up pieces and clues that I know the author has

09:19Dropped five out of five stars five out of five stars

09:23Okay

09:25On to the second book that I'll be reading in this video

09:29I thought I'd throw something in there that I'm not familiar with that

09:33I would try something new so I'm going to read a romance book this time. It's called the

09:39Unhoneymooners this one. I've actually heard of even though I'm not like a big romance novel girly this one

09:45Very popular. It's in every book like booktalk girlies like eight romance books to read this one's in it

09:52okay, and it has a

09:543.91 star rating on Goodreads almost a million ratings and

10:0090,000 reviews, so basically it has a ton of

10:04Ratings any book that is anywhere near or above a million that tells you it's a very popular book

10:11Here's the five star rating for the unhoneymooners. It was me. Hi. I was the problem. It was me

10:17I'd like to apologize for DNFing this book three years ago and for my skepticism when starting it again because you are the best

10:25Romance book I've read this summer ten out of ten perfect. No notes

10:29I picked this review because I thought it was interesting that she had

10:34Originally DNFed it and then went back and reread it and loved it

10:37I picked it for myself mostly because I need I need the

10:41Encouragement to be like, okay, even if I'm not liking it right away because clearly she DNFed it

10:46I can push through and read this and enjoy it. However

10:52This might be my favorite one-star review in the entire series so far because this is absolutely

11:01Hilarious. Okay, this person said one out of five stars in like little asterisk

11:06She said sound of handcuffs the person who hyped this you have the right to remain silent

11:09Anything you say and can and will be used against you in the court of law. You are arrested for lying to innocent people

11:17One thing about goodreads reviews is they are freaking funny. Okay, they're

11:22hilarious, so

11:24Clearly this person felt lied to they felt gaslit into reading this book and obviously did not like the book

11:31Let's get into reading a romance book instead of a fantasy book. Let's see how the unhoneymooners goes

11:37Okay, so I don't know if y'all know this we launched candle cases on lash next door

12:08I'm probably gonna swap back, but I'm about to download the unhoneymooners and

12:14Start reading it. Okay. We are about to start reading the unhoneymooners. Here we go

12:21Look who I found chilling in her swing all the way in the backyard. Dang you look cozy

12:28It's nice out here. The weather is nice and Asa set up this reading chair for me

12:36Not pouring rain outside or 25 degrees. Yeah, seriously

12:39I mentioned in last week's video that I literally only oh my gosh. I need to stop funny

12:45I had literally only read two books in my life that had twins in them this book the unhoneymooners has twins

12:52Wow, so make that three and like three books in my life the last two months to so far. I'm liking it

12:58Okay, you guys I am officially

13:0141% of the way through this book

13:02I definitely have some thoughts about this but I feel like I should save my thoughts until I'm finished with it

13:09But so far, I'm not having a bad time and I'm blowing through this book

13:13I've literally been reading it for like half a day started it yesterday and I'm probably gonna finish it today

13:18I do like that aspect that it's a bit of like an easier read to just like get through

13:26Okay time for a review of the unhoneymooners and whether or not I thought it was worth the hype that book talk gave it

13:32You guys know I don't read a lot of romance books

13:35So I feel like I'm not the best judge on whether or not this one was like the most amazing or the least amazing

13:42I will say for someone who usually cringes and DNFs like romance books

13:46I didn't DNF this one and I don't think that I would have so that immediately

13:51You know kind of coincides with the five-star review where the girl said she DNF'd it and then picked it back up and loved it

13:57Cuz I did think it was fun. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I felt myself like giggling

14:01There was basically I mean literally like little to no smut. So that's a key factor too if you're into that stuff

14:08I will say there are a couple flaws

14:09like I'd probably give it maybe like a three and a half or a four out of five star probably three and a half out

14:15Of five and my flaws are one

14:18I feel like if you're gonna write twins, you have to really understand twins, especially identical twins

14:23Like there was a part where the main character finds out something that's important to her twin sister

14:29And she doesn't tell her that is so unrealistic. That is so unrealistic

14:33You would immediately tell your twin so I had some faults like the twin relationship explanation

14:38Anyway, I don't know if the author is a twin but based on the writing

14:41It just kind of felt like like Zodiac Academy that one about twins feels very like authentic like that felt like a twin relationship

14:48This one was just a little bit off. So that pretty much lands me right in between

14:53So I feel like it was really cute romance book

14:56So if you're into romance books, I think the hype was worth it

15:01Okay, it's time for book three which is Quicksilver, so here's the thing about Quicksilver

15:06I've literally never heard of it outside of

15:10Book talk so that is obviously why it's in this video because it is blowing up

15:15Currently in its hype right now and everyone's saying it's so amazing. It's so good

15:20It's such a good fantasy book, but there's only one out

15:23So it's so new that it's literally only been published in the last like couple months

15:28Okay, so we're right at the beginning. First of all on Goodreads. This book has a

15:334.42 star rating which is pretty dang good

15:38Okay, literally as of three weeks ago

15:41This girl left this review and this is the five-star review for Quicksilver screaming crying throwing up

15:49Kicking my feet giggling smiling then straight back to screaming and crying throwing up and repeat

15:55This book was a ride and I'd like to get back on immediately. Please miss Callie. I need book two now

16:07Clearly she's into this book like a lot a lot

16:10I'm really hoping that this book

16:12Holds true to this review because like anytime I can giggle and laugh and love and cry in a book

16:17It is a win for me. However, the one-star review the one-star review is a little rough

16:23This is what she said may 25% I just cannot do it

16:27This was underwhelming if you've read any romanticy book in the past two years, you've already read this one

16:32There's obviously a reason so many people are enjoying this book. Unfortunately, it did not work for me

16:35I don't normally rate books that I DNF but the average rating for this book is very misleading

16:38so that goes back to what I was saying where the hype on book talk and the ratings on Goodreads can

16:44Still be misleading to whether or not a book is actually worth the read. Um, and this girl

16:50Clearly did not like it

16:51It's not a great indicator to have her say that it's basically like every other

16:56Romantic e-book because I cannot stand when I read a book and I'm like read that predictable been there done that seen it

17:04Experienced it we're done. Let's get into reading this book and see how it goes

17:08Okay, I have officially decided that I'm gonna swap my Kindle case every time I start a new book

17:13So this was the one that I had on and I just swapped over to this one

17:18Which says love to read smut, which I don't know if this book has fun in it

17:23But I just think the case is hilarious Quicksilver. I don't know how many pages are in this book

17:28So I'm gonna get started on Quicksilver. Let's see if it's worth the hype

17:33Okay, you guys it's another late night of reading 2 o'clock in the morning

17:37I am 30% of the way through Quicksilver and I have some thoughts already

17:42I think this is the first book that I've read in this video where I'm not feeling the hype right now

17:48Maybe it's too soon to tell I will say like the reason I'm saying that is because one I feel like the grammar and

17:56The writing something about it is wrong

17:59Like it's kind of hard to read because the sentences structurally don't make sense

18:04I can't tell if it's like there's a passive voice to it a passive past tense voice or if it's just the grammar or what?

18:11but something is off my second reason is because I am 30% 30% almost a third of the way through the book and I am

18:20So confused like I really don't know

18:22There's a lot of questions that they introduce and I don't have answers to them right now. Sometimes there's a way

18:27There's an artful way to leave questions unanswered and right now it's not being artfully done. I'll keep y'all updated

18:3975% of the way through Quicksilver and I feel like my opinion has kind of changed. I am enjoying myself. Here's the thing. I

18:47Think that this story is cute. I think that the magic is interesting

18:52I think that the like enemies to lovers romance portion of it is

18:57Awesome. I still feel like there's flaws in the writing like the main character

19:01There's some things that she does that I'm like, come on

19:05Like no, I fear this is common sense and this main character does lack a lot of common sense

19:12However, I am kicking my feet and giggling while I read it

19:27Why is there always a tub trope there's always a tub trope

19:31There's one in Throne of Glass too

19:33essentially a character gets really tired or injured or something and like has to take a bath and

19:39One of the other characters that they're like in love with helps them or like comes in the room while they're in the tub

19:45It's in every book. It's even in fourth wing

19:47I just read onyx storm in this video and there was a tub trope in a fourth wing

19:53Okay, guys I just finished Quicksilver I

19:59Have so many thoughts. I have so many thoughts

20:03First of all, I mentioned that the writing style is kind of hard to understand. I still stand by that

20:08Okay, I agree and stand by that statement too. I feel like the main character is kind of annoying

20:16I felt like this author wanted to do everything like there's vampires. There's wolves. There's

20:23Zombies there's magic and then there's Fae and there's about I think at the beginning of the book we meet

20:30Like 20 different characters and only like two of them are actually important

20:34She bounces from place to place to place to place and they explain so much of like the lore of that place

20:41They talk all about the history of that land what that land is like and then leave a bunch of questions

20:47Unanswered and then move her to a new location and never answer those questions

20:51And then she finds a new land and she learns all about that land and all about the people and then moves again

20:56I just went on a really long tangent, but there were some positives. I did feel like the magic was interesting

21:01I did feel like there were twists and turns although pretty predictable twists and turns

21:07There were some those are my thoughts

21:09and I think I would probably give this a three out of five and I would say I can see how people would enjoy this

21:15Book because there is a crap ton going on like there is a lot happening

21:19But ultimately I feel like it was one of those books that was super hyped up and just didn't reach the level like this

21:26Is not a fourth wing level book. This is not a Sarah J

21:30Mass like throne of glass level book

21:32This is somewhere in the middle tier didn't deserve all the hype on book talk if you disagree tell me in the comments

21:38Those are my thoughts. I just feel like the book was all

21:41Over the place and now I have one more book to read

21:46Okay, last but not least this is the last book in this video that is hyped up on book talk and it is called powerless

21:56Boy this book. There is a lot of lore behind this

22:00I don't even really know all of the lore behind this book

22:03but what I do know is that a lot of people love it like

22:09Love it, but it's a little bit controversial like some people like it. Some people don't like it

22:14So we'll see how it goes the rating on Goodreads for powerless, which by the way, this is a trilogy

22:21So there this is actually a series of books

22:23There is the second one is already out, but the third one isn't yet

22:27So if I like this book, I might read the second one. We'll see how it goes

22:30But powerless rating on Goodreads is a 4.1 a star but still really popular

22:36But I also think this is a newer series. I've only heard of this book through book talk again

22:41I feel like I get all my information through book talk

22:43So here's the five-star review for powerless. This person said infinity out of five stars

22:50This book was amazing. I'm about to have the worst book hangover of my entire life. I love

22:56a book hangover and if none of y'all are familiar with what that is

23:00It's when you read a really good book and you just feel like

23:04Completely in a daze after you read it like you can't function properly because it was so good and all you can think about is

23:11The book I want to feel this. I want to feel this deeply in my bones

23:16So this gives me hope also

23:18I will say out of all of these books so far the only one Brooklyn has read is powerless and she liked it which also

23:25Gives me hope that I will like it, but we'll see and then the one-star review again

23:31Savage you guys are savages over there on Goodreads

23:34They put I've read fan fictions written by 12 year olds on Wattpad with better plots than this. Okay

23:42That is crazy. So clearly they felt like it was terrible

23:47They felt like it was written by a 12 year old Wattpad has a certain style

23:51So this person clearly did not like it, but we're gonna see so let's go read some powerless before I even start this book

23:58I feel like I'm gonna like it because Brooklyn liked it

24:01We'll see if that really holds up but it's time to start reading that will mean that I have read four books in

24:09What eight days?

24:12These books are hefty books

24:28Okay guys

24:3092% of the way through this book, but I am hooked

24:34Like I've been sitting here reading for the last like three hours and loving every second of it

24:44Okay, ignore all the stuff behind me because we are currently traveling and

24:49Staying at a house for a friend's wedding, but I just finished powerless. My overall thoughts on this book were that was amazing

24:59five stars

25:00Five out of five. I blew through that book. It was so good

25:04I love the tension like the love triangle and the tension between the main characters

25:10Like ah, it was so good. And I love the like brother tension, too

25:15Like that was so good

25:16the thing I will say the only like downside of this book was that there were a lot of

25:21Similarities to Hunger Games like a lot of similarities to Hunger Games. She's archery

25:26They're doing like a Hunger Games type of game survival game

25:31Even like her friend Dina kind of reminds me of like Rue in the show Hunger Games and in the books Hunger Games

25:37I don't know. There was a lot of like parallel similarities. However, I still loved every second of it. I loved every second of it

25:43I also really like that this book in particular doesn't have her discovering like magical powers

25:50Like the whole point is that she doesn't have powers and a lot of the times other books will have like a powerless

25:56Character discover some super powerful magic that they've never seen before

26:00No, this one was like she actually was just an average person and I really liked that

26:06Luckily, this is a series. So catch me reading the next book ASAP. That is all the reviews I have

26:14I definitely think that some of them were worth the booktok hype and some of them were maybe not so much worth the hype on

26:21Booktok but I'd be curious to see what y'all's five-star reads are
