The movie is set in the final years of the Ottoman Empire and revolves around a love triangle that develops between Mikael (Oscar Isaac), an Armenian medical student, Chris (Christian Bale), an American journalist, and Ana (Charlotte Le Bon), an Armenian-born woman raised in France, immediately before and during the Armenian genocide.
