00:00A teacher and a male grade 8 student were arrested in Iloilo.

00:06Kim Salinas of GMA Regional TV has the report.

00:13At first, the teacher and the male grade 8 student had a calm conversation in a school in Pototan, Iloilo.

00:20But later, the 14-year-old student was arrested and put behind bars.

00:26It happened on March 12.

00:28According to the student's mother, the teacher ordered her son to put a rock as a trap for a school event.

00:35The student tore the rock open, broke it, and hit the teacher in the eye.

00:40That's when the teacher got angry.

00:42He hit me hard.

00:45He said, if you hit me, I'm sorry. I was just a kid.

00:48After the student left, the teacher called him again and beat him again.

00:53After that, the teacher went ahead.

00:55According to the student's mother, the student was injured in the face.

00:59They will be examined in the R.H.U.

01:02If the doctor has a negative impression on him, we will counsel him.

01:09The student was embarrassed to return to school.

01:11That's why he was put behind bars for distance learning.

01:14The school principal refused to face the on-cam interview.

01:18But she said, the teacher apologized to the student and promised not to repeat the injury.

01:24The principal ordered the teacher to be given maximum tolerance.

01:28The teacher and the student talked in the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.

01:33But the student's family was still ready to file a complaint against the teacher.

01:37The teacher refused to give a statement that could lead to a complaint against the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse,

01:44Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

01:47The Deped Schools Division of Iloilo did not comment.

01:50Although they will accept the complaint about the injury of the teacher,

01:53they returned the report to the school because there are missing details.
