00:13feeling great, on a plane,
00:16and then they realize they gotta play against Duke.
00:18Friday at 2.40 Eastern,
00:19you may ask, what is that point spread?
00:22I said that I thought Auburn would have
00:23the highest point spread in the NCAA Tournament
00:25in round one, I was wrong.
00:26Duke minus 32 and a half against Mount St. Mary's
00:29Friday at 2.40 Eastern.
00:30All right, so the main course last night
00:32of the first four in, had a little bit of a surprise,
00:36maybe, depending on how you looked at it.
00:38But Texas fell to Xavier last night,
00:40and Marcus Foster scored 22 points.
00:42The Musketeers were down 13 in the first half,
00:45they still trailed by 10 with 16 minutes left.
00:47Was that a bad bet?
00:49Bad beat?
00:50I don't know, depends on how you see it.
00:52Xavier has earned the right to now play against Illinois,
00:55and they got some time.
00:56They're playing Friday night at 9.45 Eastern,
00:59where the Illini are three and a half point favorites.
01:02Meanwhile, McNeese's Will Wade has reached an agreement
01:05to become the next head coach at NC State.
01:07Sources told ESPN he's won 57 games
01:11over the last couple of seasons.
01:12How will this affect the game today?
01:15Well, 3.15 Eastern, Clemson takes on McNeese,
01:18lined open Clemson minus six and a half,
01:20it has moved to seven and a half.
01:22So some money coming in on the Tigers.
01:24Clemson's also finalizing a new six-year deal
01:26with their head coach, Brad Brownwell,
01:28that will keep him at the school through 2031.
01:31He led Clemson to the Elite Eight last year,
01:34and naturally they play this afternoon,
01:35so maybe they'll get this done before then.
01:37We will see, we'll be off the air by then.
01:39Meanwhile, let's go through the matchups today,
01:41the updated point spread,

03:02The favorite to win the national championship this season
03:06are the Duke Blue Devils.
03:07That's where it's gonna go off at plus 280
03:09over on the FanDuel Sportsbook.
03:11The Gators are right there at plus 360.
03:13Auburn plus 550.
03:15And the Houston Cougars, the other number one seed,
03:17six to one.
03:18We've seen crazy teams win championships before, folks.
03:21So we'll see if any of those long shots end up coming in.
03:24In the NBA, there is a team that knows close games
03:27at the end of games and wild finishes.
03:29That team is the Indiana Pacers lately.
03:31They came back from an 11 point deficit
03:33in the final six minutes,
03:34and the Pacers have now won four of their last five games.
03:37They do lead Milwaukee by one game
03:39for the four seed in the Eastern Conference,
03:40which is huge because they would get some home games
03:42in the NBA playoffs.
03:43The Pistons late beat the Miami Heat
03:45for the Heat's ninth straight loss.
03:48Cade Cunningham hit a long three-pointer
03:50with less than a second left.
03:51Detroit's having a great season.
03:53Miami, needless to say, is not.
03:55Here's head coach JB Bickerstaff
03:58on the big play from Cade Cunningham.
04:00And Cunningham himself talked about the game-winning shot.
04:03I mean, you just gotta get him the ball.
04:07Think about old Doug Collins clip,
04:09just get him the ball and get out the way, right?
04:11But you try to get the ball in his hands,
04:13occupy the guys around him.
04:15And you know that Cade's gonna be able to get his shot off.
04:17Like he's got the size, he's got the skill.
04:20He know he's gonna get his look.
04:22We told him to go win the game and he went and got it done.
04:25Yeah, I mean, just go get one, find a way.
04:29I guess that's the main thing.
04:32No, it's something I love to do
04:33and to have the trust by your team
04:35to be put in that situation and go win the game like that.
04:41It's a blessing.
04:42I try to make the most out of it and all glory to God.
04:47Home cooking, meanwhile, is working for the Lakers.
04:49Not a great road trip.
04:50They come back home, they win again,
04:51although it was against the Nuggets.
04:53But let's also keep in mind,
04:55it did not have Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.
04:57They both missed that game, 120 to 108.
04:59Luka Doncic had 31 points, nine rebounds, seven assists.
05:03And he also had 21 in the first quarter.
05:06But it seems like according to their head coach, JJ Redick,
05:08home cooking has been the key to success lately for LA.
05:13Yeah, we would all love to have home court advantage.
05:16It would be nice.
05:17And our group has been awesome at home so far.
05:19They have.
05:22But again, you gotta play the next game
05:26and you gotta win the game in front of you.
05:28And then I've just seen it too many times.
05:31The basketball gods, you know,
05:35start messing around with things.
05:36The basketball gods, they will punish you.
05:40I mean, you just feel the energy in the crowd, you know.
05:45Some crazy shots that I can hit.
05:48So when I hit one of those,
05:50I know the crowd goes crazy and just give energy.
05:53And I don't think just for me,
05:55so just, and for the whole team.
05:59I think right now,
05:59the Lakers are playing some of their best basketball,
06:01but only at home.
06:02It'll be interesting to see
06:04if they get any home court in the playoffs.
06:05Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers
06:07took them like five months to play their best basketball.
06:09They won their third straight.
06:10They beat the Grizzlies 115 to 99.
06:12The Knicks fall to the Spurs 120 to 105.
06:16The Thunder beat the 76ers 133 to 100.
06:22And they were missing SGA, Lou Dort, Isaiah Hardenstein,
06:26and Jalen Williams.
06:27How about that?
06:28DeMar DeRozan and the Kings
06:31take out the Cavs in a rare win.
06:33And maybe the biggest NBA story of the day
06:36is it looks like the Boston Celtics are gonna be sold.
06:39Bill Chisholm, the managing partner at Symphony Technology,
06:42has agreed to purchase the Celtics
06:43from the Gruesbeck family for $6.1 billion.
06:49That's the largest sale number
06:50for a sports franchise in North America,
06:54if it ends up going through.
06:55Danielle Hunter and the Texans have agreed
06:57on a one-year contract in the remaining players
06:59that are left in free agency.
07:00Cam Robinson also signed a one-year deal with the Texans.
07:05Remember, Laramie Tunsil no longer there.
07:07The Dolphins have signed Willie Gay to a one-year contract.
07:11The Bears have signed Devin Duvernay
07:13away from the Ravens to a one-year contract.
07:15And we could potentially see some new rules
07:18in the National Football League.
07:19The Detroit Lions submitted a rule change proposal
07:22where wildcard teams with better records
07:25than division winners get better playoff seats.
07:29The other rule that's potentially in play
07:32is, of course, the tush push,
07:35which right now the Packers are pushing
07:36to not have.
07:38But the Eagles have proposed their own new rule,
07:41which is the NFL's regular season overtime
07:43is the same as the postseason,
07:45meaning that both teams get an opportunity
07:47to possess the ball no matter what happens,
07:50and overtime would be 15 minutes.
07:52That's the latest in the NFL.
07:54It's been a quiet day in baseball.
07:56Spring training games start at 1 p.m. Eastern,
07:58opening day, folks, one week from today.
