00:00We know that fly-tipping is an expensive and it's a dangerous nuisance and local
00:04authorities such as Conservative-led Walsall are taking a really proactive
00:07and determined approach to tackling this but with bin strikes on our doorstep in
00:12the neighbouring Labour-led Birmingham Council we fear more fly-tipping
00:17particularly in the communities that border Birmingham. Alarmingly we're
00:21hearing of rats the size of cats in Britain's second city and let's be
00:27quite certain the squeaky blinders are definitely not welcome in Aldrich
00:30Brownhills but I'd like to ask the Minister what specific support can she
00:35provide to neighbouring authorities in these very specific circumstances and
00:39what can she do to bring the bin strikes to an end? Obviously Birmingham City
00:42Council's bin situation is a matter for the council but what I would say as a
00:46neighbouring MP in Coventry we have not seen any of the fly-tipping that she
00:51talks about in Walsall. It certainly hasn't occurred in Coventry but what I
00:55would say is that both sides need to get around the table and sort this out
00:59for the benefit of the people of Birmingham.
