There were a lot of shocking revelations in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah about why they left the royal family, but people can't stop talking about the question one royal asked about baby Archie's skin color. The racist remark was made to Harry, who relayed it to Meghan, but neither has admitted which royal it was, only saying that it wasn't Queen Elizabeth or Prince Philip.

00:00There has been quite a bit of finger-pointing since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry came
00:05forward and shared their reasoning behind leaving the royal family. In case you missed
00:10it, the ex-royal couple did an interview with Oprah in March 2021, in which, for the first
00:16time ever, they discussed the traumatic and unthinkable events that led to the changing
00:21of their relationships with the other members of the royal family.
00:25The interview divulged quite a few bombshells that the public had no idea about, but one
00:30of the bombshells that no one can seem to forget concerns the couple's son, Archie.
00:36Someone in the family allegedly had a conversation with Harry expressing concern about their
00:40baby's potential skin color and how they expected him to look. The couple refused to divulge
00:46who it was, only adding that it was neither the queen nor Prince Philip.
00:51Speculations as to who had the extraordinarily inappropriate conversation with Harry have
00:56been running rampant on the internet, and show no signs of slowing. Now, it appears
01:02that British writer and socialite Lady Colin Campbell is making an effort to put an end
01:06to the chatter.
01:08As per Campbell, the royal in question was Princess Anne, the queen and Prince Philip's
01:12only daughter. The 71-year-old writer has made a name for herself by giving people an
01:18inside look into the life of the royal family, having written many books on the topic. She
01:23is perhaps best known for her books on Princess Diana, in which she divulged lots of unknown
01:28information about the secretive princess.
01:31Her most recent claim about the royal family is that she believes Princess Anne to have
01:36been the one to discuss Archie's skin color with the Sussexes. But according to Campbell,
01:41it was all a big misunderstanding. As per Lady C, Princess Anne didn't think that Meghan
01:47Markle was a good fit for the royal family. The writer nonetheless insists that the princess'
01:52objections to Markle weren't racist. She explained,
01:55"[Harry decided that on the slimmest of hints about culture, that it referred to color.]
02:00She, Anne, had concerns about the disastrous effects of allowing somebody of that ilk,
02:06character-wise, into the family would not only cause trouble for all of them, but also
02:11for any child born of the union."
02:13She continued to argue on her podcast, Chatting with Lady C, that fingers were unfairly pointed
02:19at Anne. So, if you choose to believe Lady Colin Campbell, the conversation that Anne
02:24allegedly had with Harry was simply a cultural discussion about the differences between Brits
02:29and Americans.
02:30You'd be forgiven if you were having major Wallace Simpson flashbacks right now, because
02:35you should. Campbell apparently talked to a source close to the royals before going
02:39public with her claims. She explained,
02:42There were no concerns about Meghan's color. Princess Anne was rightly concerned that if
02:47the marriage proceeded and there were children, there would be huge problems, not because
02:51of Meghan's color, but because of Meghan's inability and determination to remain unable
02:57to appreciate the cultural differences."
02:59So why did Campbell choose now to share this information? According to a YouTube video
03:05she posted on the topic, entitled,
03:07Lady C reveals the royal Meghan and Harry wouldn't name, plus why Prince Albert intervened,
03:13Campbell said that she wanted to identify the person before an anti-monarchist or anti-establishment
03:18source wrongfully exposed someone, or put a negative spin on the incident as a whole.
03:24Followers of the British royal family may remember that Princess Anne vocally supported
03:28Meghan and Harry leaving their royal duties. She famously told Vanity Fair,
03:33I think it was probably easier for them, and I think most people would argue that there
03:38are downsides to having titles, so I think that was probably the right thing to do."
03:43As BBC has reported, the princess turned down Her Majesty's offer to give royal titles to
03:48her own children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall. Buckingham Palace, as well as Harry
03:54and Meghan, have yet to comment on Lady C's explosive claims.
