00:00But those were his only two appearances since January 28th. Spurgeon moves in for Minnesota,
00:13shot saved by Grubauer. Yeah, a team very similar to Seattle. Larson drops it back for a shot,
00:21that's kicked out by Gustafson, and then a blocker saved. Slides it across, Stevenson,
00:26and now Evans. Evans, cut off by Faber, circles out of the corner, goes back up high, Stevenson,
00:34a shot, and was deflected with a skate on goal. A little redirection there,
00:38Philip Gustafson has to make the save. Early in the year, the Wild had excelled against some of
00:44the lesser clubs in the league, but you're right, lately... Yeah, you lose a Ryan Carter for two
00:50months, you're not losing any sleep. You're all right. Well, we've been missing you. But you look
00:58at the players. Here's Hartman, loose in front, he scores! Ryan Hartman continues to roll for
01:08Minnesota. Before Ryan Hartman, he took the suspension, he went to work, and everybody's
01:15talking about how he's skating, we're putting him through a tough workout, tough skates, and he was,
01:20he was on the ice before the team, after the team, but he's come out, and he seems to have hit the
01:24reset button, he's finding his offense there, he kind of gets lost in the corner, gets to the slot,
01:29picks this puck up, he doesn't dust it, quick little catch and release, into the back of the
01:33net, and again, don't pass anything up on Grubauer. Early in this game, the Wild get one, it's Ryan
01:38Hartman, they're up 1-0. Guns, fires from long range, saved Grubauer. Rebound knocked away by
01:47Bontour. Sends it into the Minnesota zone, and Gustafson's there. Gustafson had to make a couple
01:55good stops early for Minnesota, and then the Wild cash in on their first good chance at the other
02:00end. Gustafson knocks this one aside. First time the Wild have scored in the first period in seven
02:09games. And again, I go back to Matt Zuccarello and the go-ahead goal last game, it felt like a
02:17breakthrough. Even his emotional release looked like, alright, things are on the right path now,
02:24we've broken through, we're good. Faber, gives it to Boldy. Now to Faber, a long shot, that was
02:32deflected in front, it caught Dunn, he's hobbled a bit, as play goes on in the Seattle zone.
02:37Schwartz, lost it, Boldy out front, he scores!
02:43They haven't been in recently, playing good hockey four minutes into this game, a two goal lead, but they go to work in the
02:55offensive zone, they win their battles on the wall, Matt Boldy gets loose at the slot, he collects this puck,
03:01snaps it past Phillip Grubauer, but the game plan is being executed perfectly. They've come out, they've been on
03:08top of the Kragen, Forchek is there, puck bomb.
03:11Now sometimes, you don't know what it'll take to break the seal, but once it does, they can come in bunches.
03:18And perhaps, your point you were just making about Zuccarello's goal, here's another chance, and they score!
03:26Unbelievable start for Minnesota! Liam Ogren makes it 3-0 Wild!
03:34Instant confidence, it was a great play, a little pick up from Freddie Gaudreau, nice catch and release from Ogren,
03:44no chance, and it's the confidence to make them play at the blue line, it's something I felt last week, the Wild weren't
03:51comfortable doing, they had to put that puck in the corner, but instantly, things change, you win a game, and I'm gonna go
03:58back to comments from John Merrill, after the L.A. game, he says, hey, listen, we're in a good spot, we're 6 points into a
04:06playoff spot, it's not like we're panicking, we have to remember that we're-
04:10And deflects wide, where Montour has it.
04:15Baneers, feeds the wing, a centering pass, broken up by Faber, Montour came up with it, his shot right on.
04:22Kragen start back the other way, Montour drives it in.
04:26Boy, how noticeable is Matt Zuparello at the puck every time he gets it right now.
04:30Here's a turnover, and Gustafson makes a pad save! Merrill controls for Minnesota, out to Boldy.
04:36Talked about him in the open a little bit, just the leadership that he provides there, he's a leader in a very good way,
04:43in that, when things are going well, he doesn't take any of the credit, he almost can't get him to say a word about anybody or anything,
04:50but things start going-
04:52Here's a loose puck in front, Ogren with another chance!
04:57And yet, had not scored.
04:59Boy, the timing of this first period, this lead, is so important, because you can only save for so long,
05:08that we're trying, we're getting our chances, it's not going in.
05:12You have to break through, or else you just stop believing.
05:16Timing's terrific, but they've earned their chances here this evening, and they've capitalized on it.
05:23During that stretch, where you saw the game slip, because frustration leaked in,
05:27the St. Louis game Saturday was a perfect example of that, as well as the Wild played early, they just couldn't score.
05:33Gustafson with an awkward save.
05:35To the right, in the back of the back of the backs, minus 23, in those 10 games.
05:41Here's a chance on the wraparound, Gustafson with a pad save!
05:45And the rebound goes to the corner.
05:47Gustafson's had to be sharp here early.
05:49He's just tracking it really well, there to be able to read that puck from behind the net,
05:53to get the pad on it, he's tracked rebounds.
05:55Two on one for Minnesota, Hartman in, fires off the post!
05:59Looking for his second of the night.
06:01Crossed out of favor.
06:03Well, they haven't been able to get it set up, but the power play has quietly been really good for them.
06:06I mean, with Carrillo, it was 17%.
06:09Here's Henestrosa, and tried to go short side, and caught the post.
06:13Henestrosa and Ryan Hartman, right, he's coming down that side, and tried to go short side glove on Grubauer.
06:19Hit the post, and right there, Henestrosa does the exact same.
06:24Chisholm knocks it away from Eberle.
06:26Wild attack, Devon Shore moves in.
06:28Shore to the outside, a shot saved by Grubauer!
06:31It's loose, in the slot, and finally cleared.
06:41Faber controls.
06:43Long pass, sends Gauntz in!
06:45Gauntz, denied by Grubauer!
06:49Remains three.
06:58Wild, two on one.
06:59Olgren feeds Nyquist.
07:01Nyquist in!
07:02Tried to go back to Olgren, and a sliding save by Grubauer!
07:06I think that goes off the post.
07:08Spurgeon with a shot, and it's blocked.
07:12It's Olgren to Nyquist, and Nyquist looks to repay him, get the puck back to him.
07:17I think that's Dunn's stick.
07:19Hits Grubauer, climbs him.
07:21Yeah, Dunn's stick hits Grubauer, climbs him, hits the post.
07:27For eventually ending up behind the goal.
07:32In a tussle with Nyquist in the corner, you can hear Montour yelling that he wanted a holding call.
07:39Shore gains the line, Nyquist works by Oleksiak!
07:43And a backhander kicked out by Grubauer!
07:47And then Nyquist with a nice little shimmy on Oleksiak, brings it to the backhand, good reach.
07:51Tries to go back against the green, I think a little more air under that one.
07:56Wright, has it knocked away by Brazzo, off to center, Trenyan has it!
08:01Trenyan and a load!
08:02And a save by Grubauer, Trenyan didn't get much on the shot.
08:07Looks like Ryan Hartman might be whistled for something here.
08:10Jakov Trenyan with a breakaway chance.
08:13Roll lost it, could be a two-on-one the other way, McCann with Eberle.
08:17McCann to the slot, a shot, saved Gustafson!
08:21Rebound and Larson is denied by Gustafson!
08:26First period on, here they turn one over right inside their own blue line.
08:32Nice play here, cut to the middle by McCann.
08:36Bracken's hottest player, Adam Larson, with the follow-up and Gustafson's just been...
08:41It's kind of been a quiet storyline in this game, how good he's been.
08:50First save, and then just look at the position.
08:55Eberle, knocked away by Bogosian.
08:59Boldy scoops it up and center!
09:01Boldy to the open net, he scores!
09:04And it's 4-0 Minnesota!
09:11Big goal for Matt Boldy as it snaps a string of 11 games without a goal.
09:16It's a big goal, it's a confident goal.
09:19He's on the backhand, great step up there from Bogosian
09:22to be able to knock that play down from Eberle as he attacked the blue line.
09:26And then Boldy, I think he had an opportunity to bring it to the forehand,
09:30but he nonchalantly skates that one in,
09:33still playing a float, a backhander in.
09:36Bogosian, time to the goal, 18-23.
09:40Got it across the flurry, centers, right arena rack, Gustafson down and a whistle.
09:48Some of these saves that Gustafson has had to make,
09:51Seattle's trying to go east and west through the slot, trying to hit the backdoor.
09:56Merrill circles the net, and Philip Gustafson will earn his fifth shutout of the year.
10:02It'll move him into a tie for second in the NHL,
10:05and only Connor Halibut has more this year.
