00:00Here's the deal, Halo is stuck in a balancing act.
00:16On one side you've got the casual players who just want to blow off some steam and on
00:20the other you've got the sweaty competitive pros who demand the most finely tuned experience
00:26possible, hence the GAs in Halo esports right now.
00:30So how does Halo manage to keep both sides happy and more importantly, why does that
00:35even matter?
00:36First things first, casual players are the backbone of Halo.
00:39Without them you wouldn't have full lobbies, instant matchmaking, or all the hilarious
00:45chaotic moments that make Halo legendary in the first place.
00:51These are the players who log on to have fun.
00:54After a long day at work, sitting on the couch with their Xbox, teaming up with their
00:58buddies to run some ridiculous custom game mode in Forge, or reliving the campaign to
01:04blow up a few grunts, they're not grinding for that hero rank or perfect KD ratio, they're
01:10here for the experience.
01:15And casual players are where the numbers come from, we're talking big numbers.
01:20Legendary events, new campaigns, battle passes, all of that keeps the casual crowd engaged.
01:26And let's be honest, it's how Halo keeps the lights on.
01:34But then you've got the competitive side, the players who take Halo to another level.
01:48This has been a massive part of Halo and it's franchise history, from the early days
01:53of MLG to the current Halo Championship Series where I'm blessed enough to be one of your
01:59commentators.
02:08These players are what push Halo's mechanics to their absolute limits.
02:13It's not just about running around throwing grenades and dying like I do in matchmaking
02:17and hoping for the best, it's about map control, precision shooting, and perfect teamwork.
02:24And when pros pull off those clutch plays, it's electrifying.
02:32The competitive scene is such a spectacle.
02:36It puts Halo in front of a global audience, and let's be real, it makes the game look
02:42incredibly fun to play.
02:46So how does Halo balance it all?
02:48Well, it's about giving players options.
02:51You want to sweat it out in ranked?
02:53Halo's got you covered with its competitive playlists, skill-based matchmaking, precision
02:57shooting weapons, and maybe even separate settings, as well as a champion system.
03:01Prefer something more laid back?
03:03Jump into social playlists like Fiesta, Big Team Battle, where anything goes, and nobody's
03:08worrying about their KD, and more importantly, there is no skill-based matchmaking.
03:14And then there's Forge, a tool that lets casual and competitive players alike flex
03:19their creativity.
03:21Whether you're designing a wacky racetrack or a perfectly balanced arena map, Forge gives
03:26everyone a way to play the game in their own way.
03:30At the end of the day, Halo needs both communities.
03:34Casual players bring the numbers, the life, the everyday fun.
03:38Competitive players bring the challenge, the precision, and the hype.
03:42Together, they keep Halo alive, thriving, and most importantly, legendary.
03:48I truly think in our next Halo iteration that we have a balance here.
03:53That we bring out the casual playlists on launch.
03:55That we make sure Forge is something that we have when the game releases.
04:00It is important to keep that casual audience engaged with the new Halo title right when
04:06it releases, because again, the casual audience is the lifeblood of this game.
04:12Make sure to sub and like the video if you liked it, and of course, let me know down
04:15below what Halo can do to bridge this gap and make sure both sides of the equation are
04:22satisfied.
04:23Thank you for watching, and I'll see you again on the next video.
