Transcript
00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today, we're counting down the upcoming anime that have us eager
00:12for the spring season's speedy arrival.
00:19Number 10, From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman
00:29Have we seen this kind of premise before? A thousand times in the last year alone, but
00:33given the adoration for the source material and the crisp animation on display, we're
00:39looking forward to seeing what this fantasy sword fest has on offer.
00:47Despite getting on in years, Beryl is a man who knows his way around a blade, and from
00:52the looks of things, is about to educate the new god on how to handle a weapon. Also, the
00:58sudoharum is looking next level. Looking at you, red-haired muscle mama!
01:14Number 9, Guilty Gear Strive! Dual Rulers
01:20Few fighting games offer the same kind of flash and anime awesomeness as Guilty Gear,
01:25regardless of its bonkers lore, so the transition from game to series almost feels inevitable.
01:32This is very much an anime by fans for fans, on account that it's actually been created
01:38by series originators Arc System Works, and if there's a studio that knows how to take
01:433D aesthetics and make them sing, it's them. Following the events of Strive, it looks like
01:51we can expect to see tensions rise between humans and Gears once more. Though let's
01:56be honest, we're all here for the beat-em-ups. Any excuse to see our favourite characters
02:01bust out their overdrives?
02:08Number 8, Ann Shirley
02:15You could have given us a million guesses, and not once would we have considered that
02:19a remake of Akage no Ann would be released in our lifetime, but that's exactly what's
02:25happening. The original series was beloved back in its day, which in turn was an anime
02:32adaptation of the classic children's novel, Ann of Green Gables. At only 24 episodes long,
02:39it's doubtful they'll be able to cover the majority of the book's events, but we're
02:46hoping for a whimsical first instalment given how beloved Ann Shirley is as a character.
02:52Number 7, Wind Breaker Season 2
02:59An unexpected delight of a delinquent brawler, Sakura's introduction into the brotastic
03:05fellowship of Furin Hai gave us both hands and feels in equal measure. Now he's back,
03:16and it's time to take Nerdu else to task for threatening his classmates. We have no
03:21doubt that the boys in green and black are going to deliver quite the smackdown this
03:25time around, since Sakura's heading for an entire class of fighters with no plans
03:30of backing down. As long as the action remains high-octane, you can consider us locked in.
03:40Number 6, Yaiba! Samurai Legend
03:48Anytime WIT Studio tackles a new anime, it's practically an event in the making, and this
03:53time it's a re-adaptation of a 90s classic that likely went under several radars. Not
03:59surprising given that the mangaka's other work somewhat overshadowed it – a little
04:04series called Detective Conan. Now it seems Yaiba is about to get his due, and it looks
04:12magnificent. As a kid who lives and breathes swordsmanship, Yaiba's desire to find new
04:18rivals and become a legit samurai opens the floodgates to all kinds of crazy fights, especially
04:25when demons start getting involved. Inject this into our veins now!
04:36Number 5, Witch Watch! Incoming new romantic comedy. Emphasis on the comedy, given that
04:42this is by the same madlad who brought us Sket Dance. She's a witch, he's a dastardly
04:51handsome human-looking ogre tasked to protect her. The only issue being that Nico is the
04:56most bombastic spellcaster out there, who has no issue causing chaos wherever she goes.
05:02Made all the worse given her infatuation for her childhood bestie. Place them in a school
05:07full of wackos, and the best kind of calamity is sure to follow.
05:18Number 4, My Hero Academia Vigilantes. Just because Deku's journey is coming to a close
05:25doesn't mean there's no stories left to tell from the heart of Hero Society. Focusing
05:35on a group of unregistered, super-powered individuals who like to fight evil from the
05:40shadows, this fresh perspective is honestly just what the series needs. It's like swapping
05:49Superman for Batman, only with a bunch of idealistic, unprepared kids, one grumpy-as-hell
05:55veteran with a colossal chip on his shoulder, as well as a whole heap of trouble as they
06:00contend with villains and pro-heroes alike.
06:26We didn't even need to see a single frame of this series before knowing it was going
06:30to be a banger. After all, it's being helmed by the creator of Cowboy Bebop, and the director
06:37of John Wick. That's a combo made in action heaven. Oh, and Muppet's doing the animation
06:49as well. It's literally an anime junkie's dream. Throw in conspiracies, miracle drugs,
06:55and a race against time, and this thing has every chance to reach the heights Ninja Kamui
07:01never could.
07:04We've been waiting for this waning ember to catch fire again for way too long, and
07:21now it's finally here. Setting itself ablaze as it heads into its concluding arc, Shinra
07:34and the rest of Company 8 look primed to finally bring the fight to the white-clad, and prevent
07:40them from turning the Earth into another sun. Though now it seems they've got to deal
07:45with members of their own faction turning traitor, and giving themselves to the Evangelist's
07:51teachings. We can only imagine the kind of fiery footwork we're in for.

08:191. Mobile Suit Gundam G-Quacks
08:31Another year, another Gundam series to spellbind us with its complex tale and badass mecha.
08:38Fans were already eating good with the exceptional The Witch from Mercury, but this, this looks
08:43to be something special. Why? Well, for one thing, we're returning to the Universal Century,
08:49and yes, that means the return of the man, the myth, the god, Char Aznable. Only here,
08:58it's set during an alternative timeline where Char stole the RX-78 before Amuro had a chance
09:03to pilot it, drastically changing the course of the war and the future. But that's not
09:09all. It's a collaboration between Sunrise and Studio Kara, the group responsible for
09:14the rebuild of Evangelion series. This is Mecha-Nirvana, and it cannot get here soon
09:20enough.
