This short film tells the story of Emily a young female clown aged 2224 originally from Yorkshire North England now living in London with her disillusioned workingclass father who is also a clown. The opening act follows Emily as she wakes up late for work shares a quiet moment with her kind father and navigates her journey through the rain and public transport delays. However her destination is far from ordinary. Instead of arriving at a traditional circus Emilys path leads her to a different kind of circus... While this short works as a selfcontained story it also serves as the opening to a larger feature film that reimagines The Wizard of Oz in a contemporary British setting filled with cultural political and historical undertones. The feature will be presented as a comic opera with dialogue throughout.

00:00There seems to be a cloud, over my existence, over chance, making rain dance.
00:15Ah, maybe one day, ah, shake it down baby.
00:30Ah, maybe one day, ah, shake it down baby.
00:50Dad, you've been using me lippy again.
00:53No love, why would I? I've got me own lippy, haven't I?
01:02Well, it's mysteriously vanished.
01:06Get us a cup of tea, will you? I'm running well late.
01:12Aye, well, you're running late because you're apt to bloody four in the morning when your mate is getting all harsh.
01:18You don't remember coming home, do you?
01:25Ah, the flippin' heck, did I get back home last night? I were bloody trollied. God, I hate Mondays.
01:36All right, have a good day at work, won't you? And I'll see you later for dinner. I'm not your favourite, I'm turning old.
01:43Don't worry, Dad, I'm out with me gals tonight. Quiz night, innit?
01:52Oh, Blummeneck, a splendid start.
01:59The sky is dark, the clouds do fart.
02:05My shoes are wet, my socks are too.
02:11I feel like crap and want to spew.
02:19The bus is late, no great surprise.
02:25But I shan't roll my weary eyes.
02:31I'll stand and shiver, cold yet grand,
02:37With damp resolve and brolly in hand.
02:44Oh, sorry, gov, didn't see
02:48That puddle there right next to thee.
02:52Do step aboard, don't mind the queue.
02:55Those seats, I'm afraid, are far too few.
03:00Oh, not at all, no harm, no strife.
03:05Just added moisture to my life.
03:08A lovely start, a brisk shampoo.
03:13I do believe I'm growing gills too.
03:17We regret to inform you that the 7.42 to Waterloo
03:23Has been cancelled due to
03:27Leaves on the line.
03:30Oh, what a pain, but let's not frown.
03:33Another train will come to town.
03:36Perhaps today, perhaps next year.
03:39Stiff upper lip, don't shed a tear.
03:43Oh, dear, I'm dreadfully sorry.
03:46Please, do take the seat.
03:48No, after you, I insist.
03:52Oh, no, my dear, I'd feel prude
03:56To take the last.
04:01I shan't intrude.
04:08At last, my desk, my coffee warm.
04:13I've braved the British morning storm.
04:19Through floods, through queues, through transport pain.
04:25Tomorrow, I'll do it all again.
04:36So raise a cheer for those like we
04:43Who suffer trains and bus debris.
04:49For though we grumble, though we sigh,
04:56We'll never ever question why.
