00:00This is for you.
01:00Many prominent roles, such as U.S. Secretary of State, Democratic Presidential Nominee.
01:12Poison us with hatred and fear.
01:20There's no way to sugarcoat it.
01:22There's no way to explain it away.
01:28Democracy is on the march, and we now have a government in the United States that has
01:35thrown in its lot with the autocrats.
01:38All of the speakers, but one of the themes that, because as Maria said, where there are
01:48no facts that are agreed upon, that happen right before your eyes, and you have leaders
01:56you to ignore it, that Putin did not invade Ukraine, that Ukraine somehow brought it upon
02:03itself, where there are no facts, there cannot be truth, and where there is no truth, there
02:12cannot be trust, and where there is no trust, there cannot be democracy and peace.
02:30Jefferson Clinton.
02:35Great job, you guys.
02:56And I remember in the last election, I was going out there doing what I could for my
03:04candidate, and these two guys in MAGA hats, who were clearly for Trump, came up and asked
03:13if I would take a picture with them.
03:15I said, sure.
03:18So I'm taking a picture.
03:21The guy said, it was great the way you balanced the budget.
03:26We hadn't done it since, not close.
03:29And so he said a couple of other nice things, and I said, well, can I make my case for my
03:38candidate?
03:39And the guy looked at me and smiled, and he said, no, I'm too far gone.
03:44But he was honest.
03:46He understood that he had been captured by the identity politics, which now dominate
03:53America.
03:54And so at least I had a civilized conversation with him.
03:57And what they did was terrible.
03:59And finally, he's about to be held accountable.
04:02I went to this civic club dinner, 40 miles away.
04:08And now we're fighting this rise in autocracy, where everybody says, oh, I'm so tired, I
04:15don't want to think about this anymore.
04:18Oh, I know it's unfortunate what's happening in Russia, but what can I do about it?
04:24And I really like this macho person who talks tough, acts tough, and relieves me of any
04:33of the burdens of thinking about all this stuff.
04:36I mean, I have a job to do every day.
04:38I've got bills to pay.
04:40I've got costs to worry about.
04:42What do I care?
04:43What do I know?
04:44Now, that is the person we have to reach in every single nation represented here.
04:55I say that we went from hell, and now we're in purgatory.
05:11But it feels like the West, and America especially, is just going to hell.
05:17And here's the light.
05:20You can move to purgatory.
05:25The world doesn't have to be the way it is today.
05:30That there is an end to impunity.
05:34It doesn't last forever.
05:36And that at some point, a feeling of justice begins to come.
05:41That's what the victims, up to tens of thousands of them in the Philippines,
05:46the victims of the drug war, have shown.
