00:00Seventeen Filipino athletes will be given recognition on the second Pacquiao Elorde Awards night.

00:06Here's the report from Jamaica, Bayaka.

00:11Star-studded! That's how people describe the night of honoring some great Filipino athletes at the annual Elorde Awards.

00:18This event has been held for more than 20 years in the Philippines.

00:21But for the second time, Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and the Elorde family have joined forces to lead this program.

00:28In a press conference, Liza Elorde, COO of Johnny Elorde Management International and boxing promoter and manager,

00:35said that this is a way of honoring not only Filipino professionals and amateur boxers, but also entire Philippine sports in general.

00:42I think it's something for them because what they did was recognized.

00:47And in front of all the boxers, the promoters and everything, I think it's something for them that they are being honored.

00:57And it only happens sometimes, right?

01:00There are no really awards-giving bodies that we have here in the Philippines,

01:06except for that awards night, which we have been doing for the past years.

01:12Some of the major awards that will be given to 70 awardees are the Best Manager, Best Trainer, Boxer of the Year, and Fighter of the Year award.

01:20Meanwhile, two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo will be given a special award as a Sports Hero awardee.

01:26Also on the stage will be Paris bronze medalist Neste Petesho and Aida Villegas.

01:31Aside from them, many other athletes and professionals will be honored at the awarding ceremony.

01:36We are expecting a lot of former world champions to be awarded.

01:40Because it's a gathering of all the champions from the past and the present here in the Philippines.

01:47Meanwhile, there will be a boxing face-off at the Blue by Blue events in the afternoon before the awards night,

01:53which will also be held on March 20 at Loca de Manila, Jamaica, Bayaka from the National TV Network.
