Longtime Cowboys backup QB Cooper Rush is off to Baltimore to back up Lamar Jackson next season. The only non-Dak quarterback on the roster now is Will Grier, so how should the team address its backup QB situation? 00:00Chase Daniel on Twitter reacting to an Ian Rappaport tweet about Steven Jones saying
00:21they need a backup quarterback.
00:23He points to Jalen Milrow-Bama, Kyle McCourt-Syracuse.
00:28Our guys at Pro Football Network did a little bit of a write-up on it that I can work off
00:32of and ask you guys some questions.
00:34But it kind of comes down to what do you want, upside or do you want a floor?
00:40Because Milrow being a freakish athlete to me is exciting.
00:44If this guy is a day three pick, first round skill set with fifth round tape, said one
00:50scouting report about him, glimpses of elite accuracy gives him an extremely high ceiling,
00:57take away speed and arm strength, lack of consistency, lack of accuracy, and then McCourt
01:04who's the decision maker without any tools.
01:07So which one of those would you prefer in the fifth round, Brian?
01:10Give me the guy that's the athlete.
01:13Not that I could teach him to be a better passer or anything like that, but his ability
01:17to make plays with his feet, I watched him just carve up my alma mater at LSU and it
01:25was a read option stuff.
01:27It was very similar to watching, and this is going to sound really funny and strange,
01:32it was very similar to watching Dak play LSU when he was at Mississippi State and he ran
01:36for like 300 yards.
01:38And the ball was going all over the place with the accuracy or lack of, but there was
01:43that ability to run and make plays and this guy, you're probably going to have to work
01:50with him and hope that it works out, but you cannot teach that athletic ability that
01:55he has.
01:56It's rare.
01:57There's things you could do with him just as a ball carrier, running quarterback, put
02:04him in the backfield, throw him the ball.
02:08There's a lot of things you take him to the game that you surely can try and make work.
02:12I would think between what Schottenheimer did with Russell Wilson in Seattle, with what
02:18Clayton Adams did in Arizona, Connor Riley at Kansas State, you give me a blazing game
02:23breaking quarterback, just give me sufficient passing.
02:28I'd be excited about that.
02:29What could this possibly turn into if you had a Milrow and a Starr Young running back?
