00:00:00Welcome to Universal Studios Florida. We visited twice during our trip to Orlando but this
00:00:12vlog is from our second visit for Mardi Gras as I lost my voice the first time. But don't
00:00:17worry, we'll refer to some of what we did last week including our top tips, what we
00:00:21ate and our favorite attractions. Consider this vlog full of everything that you need
00:00:25to know. If you're new around here, my name is Brogan and this is my husband Benji. We
00:00:29also booked a one night stay at Lowe's Raw Pacific Resort and the Hard Rock Hotel to
00:00:34benefit from the perks of the unlimited express passes but we'll cover more of this later
00:00:38including room tours of both resorts too. Ahead of Epic Universe opening later this
00:00:42year, we hope this will be helpful so be sure to subscribe as not only did we become annual
00:00:46pass holders but I might be returning much sooner than I imagined for a sneaky preview
00:00:52so watch this space. We absolutely love Universal Studios so come and spend two days with us
00:00:57at both parks. So we're going to be starting at the Universal Studios Florida Park right
00:01:02behind us and today is the second day of Mardi Gras so we're going to be going in and seeing
00:01:06what they have on offer. Our first experience of Mardi Gras. Yeah, never celebrated it before
00:01:11have we? So it's a really cool parade and there's loads of food booths so we'll be showing
00:01:14you all of those later. Also it is the 2nd of February 2025 and it is currently 9.20
00:01:19so we have missed the sort of early entry but we had breakfast and packed our things
00:01:23and made our way over here. Taxi or Uber, Lyft took around 20 minutes and cost around
00:01:28$18 in case you're interested in coming from Disney. My first little tip for you is that
00:01:32there's lots of people taking pictures right along the bridge here and this is quiet at
00:01:37night but we just did ours tucked around that corner where they dock the boats so try and
00:01:42be creative. I do actually like taking one right at the very front with all the mist
00:01:46as well and weirdly the ball is not spinning. Yeah, I don't know why. I don't know if you
00:01:50can see but that's okay. We're going straight in. Oh my gosh, I cannot wait. They've got
00:01:53a big sign up. And it's the 30th celebration which is so cool. Mardi Gras 30. Love that.
00:02:01It's so pretty and colourful. It's got a big crocodile on there with the beads and the
00:02:05feathers. Love it. It's going to be a great day. Because we have our express passes we
00:02:09have our digital ticket on our phone but the express passes are our room key so when we
00:02:15were here last we had to buy a lanyard and a little pouch so if you are coming and doing
00:02:20this hack then bring a lanyard. There are two areas to come in on the left or the right.
00:02:25All the way right or all the way left. Yeah. People always just go to this first one and
00:02:30I don't know why because if you just go around the corner here it's shorter. Right, that
00:02:35was very fast. Just a couple of minutes if that and they do take your photo when you
00:02:39come in each time so just be prepared for that. They just take a little picture of you.
00:02:43Let's go on in. They've got loads of Mardi Gras signs all around the edges here. There's
00:02:48a nice bit of music playing. It is a little grey and overcast but the blue sky is trying
00:02:53to peek through. I tried to straighten my hair today but I don't, like what's the point?
00:02:58The Florida humidity said no. First thing on the right here is the Wicked Experience.
00:03:04This is a pop up thing. I don't actually know how long this is going to be here for but
00:03:09it's really cool inside. They have got replicas of the different costumes from Glinda and
00:03:14Elphaba and some of the other characters. It's a really nice little walk through. There
00:03:17are photo spots. They also have a whole merch room with loads of nice unique pieces that
00:03:22I've not seen before so this was really fun to look in the Wicked store. They also to
00:03:27the left here have a little Emerald City sort of snack booth. Breakfast croissants. Just
00:03:33fun little sort of puns on the food things but yeah, Oz Dust Punch cocktail. It actually
00:03:39looks really nice. Like there's some really good things in there. And also this Universal
00:03:44Studios store is a really good one if you're looking for merch. If you turn right past
00:03:48the Wicked Experience, down here you'll often see characters. The other day we met the whole
00:03:54Scooby Doo gang, got a really cute selfie with them and we've just noticed that they're
00:03:59actually dressed up for Mardi Gras today so I think it's some of the, I know the whole
00:04:03gang, the whole gang are out. Let me show you.
00:04:06Oh, thank you. We're very excited.
00:04:08So good. Wow, look at these costumes. Hello, hi Scooby. Wow, love it. This is so nice.
00:04:17I'm one of the gang now.
00:04:19You're one of the gang.
00:04:21Shaggy's truly the burger king.
00:04:23Shaggy, you want to trade hats?
00:04:26No.
00:04:32Nice deal, nice deal. Alright, I'll jump in for a picture.
00:04:35That was so good.
00:04:37I was going to do my Scooby Doo but I got embarrassed.
00:04:39Oh, did you boll it?

00:04:43I bet you should have.
00:04:45No, don't say that.
00:04:46Oh, never mind. We met them twice and you haven't done it.
00:04:48I was practicing it like quietly, I was like Reg Reggie.
00:04:51Never mind, they were really fun to meet, so many of them.
00:04:54And we were the last ones in that queue, so we didn't have to wait at all.
00:04:57So it's half past nine and we've already met some characters, which is really fun.
00:05:01But the other thing we were just going to point out here, as you can see this building here,
00:05:04this is the Bourne Stunt Show. Please do not miss this.
00:05:08I feel like people sleep on it.
00:05:10Yeah, it's so, so good.
00:05:12It's really clever.
00:05:13It's really high tech, the acting's really good in it. It's really cool.
00:05:17So it follows the Bourne movie style.
00:05:19You sit in this sort of auditorium seated thing and it's a huge screen, so there's live actors.
00:05:26The actors sort of blend into the screen. It's so clever.
00:05:29You'll struggle to pick out who's real and who's on the screen.
00:05:32It is a really great show. It's about 15, 20 minutes or so.
00:05:35So we really love this and it's a great stop if it's a really hot day and you want to escape the heat.
00:05:40So don't miss this. Make sure you prioritize that on your trips.
00:05:43That's everything we're going to show in this area. I think we need to pick a ride.
00:05:45Is it Riverside Rocket Time?
00:05:47I think it is.
00:05:48Which unfortunately is going and we really love this ride.
00:05:51I love it. I've had-
00:05:52You can pick your own song on the lap bar.
00:05:54They normally have like, I don't know, five or ten in different categories like pop and rock.
00:05:59But weirdly right now they only have one song in each category.
00:06:03I had I Feel Like a Woman.
00:06:05Then we had-
00:06:07Darude Sandstorm together.
00:06:08Yes.
00:06:09And then I also had My Chemical Romance Welcome to the Black Parade.
00:06:12But what do you normally have?
00:06:14Limp Bizkit Rollin'.
00:06:15And I normally have Glamorous by Fergie.
00:06:17But the songs make a big difference because if you pick the right one it really does make the ride feel really good.
00:06:22But this is a really great roller coaster.
00:06:24You can't take any bags or things on with you.
00:06:26So you put everything in a locker.
00:06:27You do go through a security scan.
00:06:29I have chosen to purposely bring us here on a Sunday and we came last Sunday too.
00:06:35And the reason for that is just because the unlimited express passes means that we are able to just skip.
00:06:40Whereas when we're at Disney we have to pay extra for the lightning lanes and it's very busy.
00:06:44So I like being here on a weekend if I get a choice.
00:06:47To stay here Saturday night was almost double the price of staying here on a Sunday night.
00:06:52Yes.
00:06:53So that's again something else to look out for.
00:06:55Consider, yeah.
00:06:56There is loads of Mardi Gras merchandise that they've brought out here.
00:06:59And they've got loads of live music on the stage.
00:07:03So yesterday they had T-Pain and next week they have Joe Jonas.
00:07:06But by the time you see this vlog they will be sort of down here at this point.
00:07:10But Cool and the Gang would have been so good.
00:07:12All time low.

00:07:14No scrubs.
00:07:15Really cool.
00:07:16We'll have a little look at this merch later on.
00:07:18But for now let's get on this ride.
00:07:20I will say this beginning bit here going up vertical.
00:07:24It's great.
00:07:25It scares the life out of me.
00:07:27But it is a really great roller coaster and I'm interested to see what they're going to do with this.
00:07:31They are knocking it down completely so they're not re-theming it.
00:07:34They're getting rid of the whole ride.
00:07:36It flashes so it's really cool at night.
00:07:38And as you can see it loops round.
00:07:41Look at that.
00:07:43So let's go and do it.
00:07:44And I think my hair is going to have to go up in a ponytail.
00:07:46I think it's better to tie your hair up on all these big roller coasters.
00:07:49Because otherwise it just flies in your face.
00:07:51But I was trying to get some cute pictures guys, you know.
00:07:54I've had my hair naturally curly for the last like well ten days or so.
00:07:57So I was trying but my hair really did say no.
00:08:01The ride actually only has a ten minute wait right now.
00:08:04That's actually the lowest I've seen it in the two days we were here earlier this week.
00:08:07A few things to note.
00:08:08We can actually use our passes as lockers.
00:08:12So let's start with Benji's.
00:08:14Just scan it.
00:08:15Opens it up.
00:08:16But something you will need to keep in mind is that these lockers are really small.
00:08:20I've got hardly anything in my bag.
00:08:21Yeah, Benji's got a flat rucksack today.
00:08:23But if that was fuller that would not fit.
00:08:25But we have already done this obviously.
00:08:27So we know it fits.
00:08:28But sometimes you might have to take a water bottle out.
00:08:30Or sunglasses.
00:08:31But there we go.
00:08:32That's now locked.
00:08:33Scan me.
00:08:34That's nice and close.
00:08:36And I'm allowed to take my lanyard.
00:08:39I just tuck it into my dress.
00:08:41Just make sure everything is out of pocket.
00:08:43And the phone.

00:09:06I couldn't scream on rides.

00:09:08Which you didn't think was going to be a problem.
00:09:10But like you forget how much you go woo.
00:09:13Yeah.
00:09:14But today I could sing along.
00:09:15My voice is still not fully there.
00:09:17But if you've been watching our Florida and Walt Disney World series you may have heard
00:09:21my voice be really husky at the beginning.
00:09:23And it's slowly coming back.
00:09:24You've been trying to do the best you can.
00:09:25Drinking so much like medicine and things like that.
00:09:26The honey drinks.
00:09:27Lots of water and fluids.
00:09:28You're going well to get back.
00:09:29I'm getting there.
00:09:30But I'm having fun.
00:09:31But at least I sound a little more alive.
00:09:32Benj and I have come to really love Universal this trip.
00:09:33And I'm actually going to find out later on how much it might cost to upgrade our tickets
00:09:34and your passes.
00:09:35Because we want to come back to do Epic Universe.
00:09:36That does mean we'd have to come in the next year.
00:09:37It's going to go up.

00:09:46We always intended to do three days out of our 14 day trip.
00:10:03However we have extended by an extra day.
00:10:05And I will be covering that later on in terms of the perks of staying at a select hotel
00:10:10here at Universal.
00:10:11The perks that you get.
00:10:12So I'm excited because having the hotel gives us a base for a little bit of a break later
00:10:17on when we check in.
00:10:18You can check in at 4pm.
00:10:19But they will text us when the room is ready.
00:10:21There are so many fun things to do here.
00:10:23And I personally feel like the Express Pass is absolutely superior.
00:10:27It is so good.
00:10:29Especially the unlimited one.
00:10:30Because you can just walk on pretty much most of the rides.
00:10:34The only one that we're not able to do is Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure in Islands of
00:10:39Adventure.
00:10:40There is no good hack for that one.
00:10:42But again we will cover that tomorrow probably.
00:10:45There's also quite a few shows that are normally on but because of Mardi Gras they have the
00:10:50parade and other things.
00:10:51So in the evenings from April onwards they have Hogwarts Always which is a show they
00:10:56do on the Hogwarts Castle.
00:10:58And they have a cinematic, it's like cinematic symphony or something like that.
00:11:03And it's a show that they do on the lake with water projections.
00:11:07I kind of think World of Colour in Disneyland, Similar Vies, and I think there's even drones
00:11:11in it.
00:11:12We didn't get a chance to see that when we were here last week.
00:11:15And it's sadly not on today which we were going to show you at the end of this vlog.
00:11:18But one to keep in mind that when they have different festivals and things on then you
00:11:23may miss out on some of the normal shows.
00:11:25Next question is what ride next?
00:11:26Do we go Transformers and Star Trek?
00:11:27But we haven't done Jimmy Fallon yet.
00:11:28Let's do Jimmy Fallon.
00:11:29I kind of remember him.
00:11:30I feel like I enjoyed it last time.
00:11:31Wow there's a big marching band.
00:11:32Is that a school?
00:11:33I think it is.
00:11:34It's a high school.
00:11:35Wow.
00:11:36Love that.
00:11:37It's like a little museum and shrine to Jimmy Fallon and guests or the late night hosts.
00:11:52So yeah.
00:11:53The ride is actually called Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon.
00:11:57When he's not the host anymore what are they going to do?
00:11:59They'll get a new one.
00:12:00Change the whole ride?
00:12:01Yeah.
00:12:03So we're both just going to read another chapter of our books.
00:12:05We are 80% in.

00:12:13And then you go into these little booths.

00:12:20It was really good.
00:12:21It's just a big screen but you're essentially in a car racing Jimmy through the streets
00:12:32of New York at night.
00:12:33You go to the Statue of Liberty.
00:12:34You go all the way to the moon.
00:12:35It's like a bit more of an active version of Soarin'.
00:12:39Yeah.
00:12:40I guess so.
00:12:41But why was that really special and exciting for us then?
00:12:45Because we are going to New York in two weeks time.
00:12:48We'll have already been by the time you're watching this video.
00:12:50A couple of days ago we got an email and it basically invited us to New York so we will
00:12:56be talking more about that when it comes but the ride was really fun to sort of see it
00:13:00all and get us excited.
00:13:02What's the name of the ride?
00:13:03Mummy?
00:13:04The Mummy.
00:13:05Yeah?
00:13:06Yeah.
00:13:07It smells absolutely amazing.
00:13:08They've got loads of food booths here and all around this sort of area so we will be
00:13:11having some snacks and let you know what we think.
00:13:15Time for Revenge of the Mummy.
00:13:16This is one of my favourites.
00:13:17Benji doesn't like it.
00:13:18I don't mind this version.
00:13:19It's not as intense as the one we did in Singapore and in California.
00:13:25I get really worried that the fire isn't going to stop and we're just going to get trapped
00:13:29and burn alive.
00:13:30It's such a heavy theatre but it really makes me panic.
00:13:34But the fire scene, so you go in a room where fire comes.
00:13:39It's obviously so safe but my brain just goes well what if we get stuck and it just carries
00:13:43on burning.
00:13:44But it's a bit more subtle in this one isn't it?
00:13:46It's not as intense.
00:13:47And also the ride after it is a lot better.
00:13:48Yeah.
00:13:49Like the one in Singapore, you have the fire which I hate and then it's just like 15 seconds.
00:13:53It just ends isn't it?
00:13:54Yeah.
00:13:55It ends but worth it.
00:13:56The rollercoaster element is pretty good in here so again Lockers situation on this one.
00:14:00So the other day they actually had some guys out on stilts so it was really fun.
00:14:04I loved it.
00:14:05But they actually have lots of like live music and performances out in this courtyard area
00:14:10and the other day we listened to the Beat Builders.
00:14:13They were just down the corner.
00:14:14If we see them again today we'll watch them.
00:14:15And they also had some like dancers and some singers so that was also really nice too.
00:14:20I really enjoy this area.
00:14:22They've got the Blues Brothers down there that do like a live set as well.
00:14:26So yeah, lots of music out here which is really great.
00:14:29There he is.
00:14:30He's so good and he takes pictures of you.
00:14:33It's so cool.

00:14:46Next ride is Transformers.
00:14:48So if you just cut across from the mummy there over to this way.
00:14:52We haven't seen the Blues Brothers yet this trip.
00:14:54No, I just said that.
00:14:55That they come out.
00:14:56They're really good.
00:14:57So definitely keep an eye on the schedule.
00:14:58You can look on the app for times.
00:15:00The mummy was so good.
00:15:02I always forget that not only do you have the fire, the roller coaster,
00:15:06there's a tiny little bit that goes backwards but also the actual cart,
00:15:10it spins the whole way round.
00:15:12Yeah, so it changes the course.
00:15:14We did it with our eyes closed that time which always intensifies the feeling.
00:15:17Yeah, when you've done a ride a couple of times just to like elevate it a little bit,
00:15:20we like to close our eyes, don't we?
00:15:22So we did today.
00:15:23I opened my eyes at the fire a bit just to make sure nothing was going wrong.
00:15:26Just to check everything was all good.
00:15:27Yeah, all good.
00:15:28So now we're going to do Transformers which is another 3D experience.
00:15:32You're basically a transformer.
00:15:34It's a whole battle scene.
00:15:36It's so immersive.
00:15:37It's really good.
00:15:38There's like wind and fire and things jump out at you
00:15:41because you're obviously wearing your glasses
00:15:43but I think this is one of the best 3D rides
00:15:46and it's up there in my top five rides
00:15:48because it doesn't look like something I would like on the outside.
00:15:51It's a big grey building with a massive transformer
00:15:53and you can actually meet them as well round here.
00:15:55So I always look at it and I judge it harshly like,
00:15:57oh, it's not for me.
00:15:58And then I get in and do it and I'm like, that was good.
00:16:01All it needs is a bit of Linkin Park for the theme song
00:16:03and it's going.
00:16:04It's going.
00:16:05Oh, and the mummy was a 50 minute wait
00:16:07but we only waited about 5-10 minutes
00:16:09and this one is 35 minutes in case you're interested.
00:16:13Let's head on in.
00:16:14Oh, I need to get my passes.
00:16:15So I'll show you how this works.
00:16:17Express.
00:16:18Here we go.
00:16:20So they check outside
00:16:21and then once you go inside,
00:16:23they scan them here.

00:16:28And then I just put them back.
00:16:29Sometimes they scan again later on.
00:16:31I think Universal do huge themings really well as well.
00:16:35Disney do too.
00:16:36But all the little TV screens they have playing,
00:16:39CCTV cameras, all the lights.
00:16:42It's very good.
00:16:43I like it a lot.
00:16:45Accelerates, stops, spins, climbs and drops.
00:16:50Movements include strong tilting and jarring actions.

00:17:18because we get sucked into the gift shops.

00:17:23And you've got your new jacket around the corner, haven't you?
00:17:25Oh yeah.
00:17:26We both tried on a jacket the other day
00:17:28and they were both nice.
00:17:29Benji didn't get his
00:17:30but I got mine.
00:17:31I just loved it.
00:17:32It was really nice
00:17:33with lining,
00:17:34like a hoodie inside
00:17:35with a rain jacket on the back
00:17:36and I loved the design
00:17:37so I bought it.
00:17:38But yeah,
00:17:39I'll show you more things I bought
00:17:40in a haul at the end of this vlog series.
00:17:42But I did get the jacket
00:17:43and I have packed it

00:21:31a lot further on than where we thought we'd be. Yeah we are ahead of our schedule, it's
00:21:3511.11. Oh make a wish, make a wish. I hope you have a really great day today. It's not
00:21:40open yet but they've got a Germany booth right down here. There's actually quite a lot of
00:21:45different ones isn't there, around the world, different countries. We've got India here
00:21:50which has got a few things I think you might like, some butter chicken. Oh is that a butter
00:21:53chicken? Yeah, naan. Oh an iced chai latte binge, I'm having that. We did a Fast and
00:22:00Furious last time. And it looks like my brother has another car for his collection. Honestly

00:22:47They've got some fans. I bet these would be fun to have on the parade later. They have
00:22:51a nice lanyard, I actually really like that, with the matching pouch. And they also have
00:22:58a pin, which I've just picked up. Because we have to have the pin badge, don't we? Because
00:23:03we're here for Mardi Gras. And they have a magnet as well in the same sort of design
00:23:06and a key ring, so very cute. I don't know what this little crocodile thing is. What
00:23:11is this? Is it just a toy? I think it's just a toy. And then this t-shirt too, which is
00:23:16quite nice. Oh and a popcorn bucket. Please someone tell me the obsession with popcorn
00:23:21buckets. I just don't get it. I don't get it. I will die on the hill that not only do
00:23:26I think ponchos are pointless, I also think popcorn buckets. I know you get unlimited
00:23:31refills, but I don't want unlimited popcorn. No. And they're big, plastic, annoying to
00:23:38carry. What do you do with them at home? They don't fit in the lockers. Unless you have
00:23:41them at home, sorry, unless you have them on display at home, where do you put them?
00:23:46I don't get it. You can't stack them. No. So we normally completely avoid this side
00:23:51of the lake, but we went over there earlier in the week and we found a couple of pretty
00:23:56cool areas. There's DreamWorks Land that has a Kung Fu Panda kids wet play area. Yeah,
00:24:03Trolls. I didn't see Trolls. Yeah, the Trolls Land area. Oh okay, and there's a Shrek area.
00:24:09And you can meet Donkey and Shrek. Yeah. We got the Big Simpsons Donut, which we knew
00:24:14that was there, but that's what we did last week. The pink donut was great, we shared
00:24:17that. It was quite a good snack for the rest of the day. We had a little food bag, or big
00:24:20food bag, with us. So we just had a bit, put it in the food bag, put it in the rucksack,
00:24:24and then had it every half an hour. It worked out quite well in the end, didn't it? It did,
00:24:27yeah. We haven't done Men in Black or E.T. They're not really on our schedule of fun,
00:24:32are they? We don't prioritise them, no. Oh, there's the Animal Stunt Show as well if you're
00:24:36into that. Yes, there is. Maybe we'll do that tomorrow. See how we feel, yeah? Otherwise,
00:24:40we are avoiding that side of the park. We don't like the Simpsons ride. It makes me
00:24:44feel a bit motion sick, to be honest. I've never really watched Simpsons. I like Simpsons,
00:24:49but I'm not into it now as an adult. It's just not my vibe. Okay, so before we go into
00:24:55Diagon Alley and show you, we wanted to give you a little tip here. You can order food
00:24:59and drinks from your phone, and the Leaky Cauldron is on here. And I would recommend
00:25:04doing this, there's loads on here, because it gets very busy in there. So it's table
00:25:08service, and when you get inside, you scan a QR code. We actually had the fish and chips
00:25:12the other day. I really enjoyed mine. Yeah, and I had the bangers and mash, and I also
00:25:16really enjoyed it. So food-wise, this is what it looked like. It was really nice, and I
00:25:20had a frozen butterbeer. It was much better than expected. It was, it was really good.
00:25:24And then I'm going to actually, right now, go straight down to the frozen butterbeer.
00:25:29We don't want a souvenir, because we've already got a few of those at home. So we just want
00:25:32a normal one. I prefer the frozen over the normal. They're basically the same flavour,
00:25:36but I just like the slushy feel to it. So one frozen butterbeer. You can also get a
00:25:40non-dairy one, same price. Add it to your order, review your order. Oh, we don't want
00:25:45one, do we? We just want one, don't we? Yeah. Yeah. My card is already installed on my account,
00:25:49so I just place my order like that. So easy. And then, when we get over there, we'll show
00:25:54you scanning the code and getting the drink. I actually had the cutest Harry Potter outfit
00:25:58the other day. It was a t-shirt from Skinny Dip, and it had the Hogwarts Express platform
00:26:03in it. It was £9.75. And I'll leave a link to that t-shirt below, because I know a lot
00:26:06of you will be interested in getting it. But I was going to re-wear it for today, but I've
00:26:11got so many dresses to still wear. So I'm wearing this one today, a little denim dress
00:26:14from Nobody's Child. But I do have a little hint of Harry Potter on my necklace, as you
00:26:18can see. Anyway, let's go on in, see if we can see the dragon breathe fire. Maybe do
00:26:22escape from Gringotts, if you fancy it. Yeah, I enjoyed that last time. We can talk about
00:26:26that when we get there, and go and get my butterbeer.
00:26:28Here we are, so Diagon Alley. I love it in here. First stop, here's the Leaky Cauldron.
00:26:34So we're going to bypass the queue. Now this is how it looks at 20 past 11, and this is
00:26:39when we ate lunch last time. If you come earlier, you'll have definitely a better chance to
00:26:45get seated, and it's a lot quieter. If you come literally two hours later, it is so busy.
00:26:51So we're going to take this little table here. I've arrived, prepared my order. You scan
00:26:55your table number. It's so easy, just like this, and then submit table 58, and they'll
00:27:01bring it over in a minute, and I can just start drinking it. I absolutely love the theming
00:27:05in here as well. It's really nice. There's loads to look at on the walls. Here's my butterbeer.
00:27:12I absolutely love it. It's one of my favorite snacks. Across theme parks, it just tastes
00:27:16so good, and if you've been to the Wannabrow Studio Tour in Watford, just outside of London,
00:27:22they do sell butterbeer there, but it's not the same. The one here is just superior. Yep,
00:27:28it just hits, and one is absolutely massive, so we can share this.
00:27:52I have changed my hair once again. I can't decide what I want to do with it today. It's
00:28:09getting so frizzy, but I think tomorrow I'll put it in braids. We are heading over to Escape
00:28:14from Gringotts, which is the only ride in this part of Diagon Alley. Everywhere else
00:28:21is shops. You've got Ollivander's here, which is a really cool experience, where Benji was
00:28:26actually picked for the wand. Basically, the wand picks you, whatever. All that jazz. If
00:28:31you get an interactive wand, you can also walk around this area and make water come
00:28:36out of the umbrella down there and make things move in shop windows. They have some live
00:28:41performers that we watched a little show of down here the other day, so again, check the
00:28:45app. Mostly, it's just beautiful to walk around, take loads of pictures, be fully immersed in
00:28:50the world of Harry Potter, and the Escape from Gringotts ride is a similar situation
00:28:56to Transformers. You're in these little carts, but it's on a bit of a rollercoaster track,
00:29:02but it's mostly 3D screens. The actual queue theme is really cool, so I'm going to take
00:29:07you inside.
00:29:08Escape from Gringotts. Look at this. Oh my god, let me zoom out. Oh, look, it's so good.
00:29:17And then you come down here. I absolutely love this. Wow, the chandelier, the marble
00:29:22pillars, and then look, these animatronics are actually really good. The other day, Benji
00:29:27and I played a game of That's You, pointing out which one we thought belonged to each
00:29:31other.
00:29:32Move along to the security office to have your Gringotts identification photo taken.
00:29:39We're in this section. So good. And we're going to go on down. Look at this queue we're
00:29:46skipping. I hope you can appreciate this.
00:29:49Sunrise, you need to put everything in lockers. You go through, that's what taxis do, don't
00:29:57you? Like the Velocicoaster. But on this one, they don't mind. The lady was watching you
00:30:02filming and they just asked you to put it in your pocket. So, that's how we're going.
00:30:10At the O.P., the lift will take you down to the car station.
00:30:22And no windows, and no doors. Alright, alright, alright.
00:30:30It really does feel like you're going down.
00:30:33You are now approaching the car station.
00:30:40So, so good. That's going in my top five.
00:30:44I actually only had a 20 minute wait right now. Obviously, we did the Express, but it's
00:30:49just such a good ride. I absolutely loved it. I think 20 minutes, that's pretty good.
00:30:53So, this is what I meant about the crowds. It's half past 12, and this is the queue for
00:30:59the Leaky Cauldron right at the front here. So, you can just mobile order and skip all
00:31:04of that.
00:31:05We leave Diagon Alley. Benji is very obviously a Gryffindor. He ticks so many of the boxes.

00:31:19been Slytherin much. That's when I first did the Sorting Hat quiz, I was Slytherin. And
00:31:25then as I've got older, and I've changed in my thoughts and feelings and personality,
00:31:30I recently redid the quiz, and I came out as Hufflepuff.
00:31:34What does that mean?
00:31:35What does it mean? I don't know. Someone tell me. Am I both? Am I now Hufflepuff? Because
00:31:40now I have all the merch, obviously. It's all Slytherin.
00:31:42But the Sorting Hat sorts you into a hat, and then that's it, right?

00:32:17the iced chai latte from India.
00:32:20So here's my iced chai. I absolutely love a chai latte, and I feel like this is going
00:32:27to have all the nice flavours, you know? Let's have a look.

00:32:36And then here's the butter chicken. It's literally butter chicken on a naan. It's like a bit

00:34:48The Simpsons are out. There's always characters down this strip. Circling back round, we are
00:34:53back at the beginning where the wicked experience is. We are coming into Minion land now. So
00:34:58this front bit is where they have Spickle Me, Minion Mayhem, which is a 4D show again.
00:35:04And to the right they have Villain Con, Minion Blast.
00:35:09You stand on a little platform that's like a conveyor belt thing. You know when you get
00:35:14on a ride and it's got the moving, walking-
00:35:17It's flexible. It loops all the way around the ride.
00:35:19Yeah, so you just stay still on it and it moves you around. And it was really good theming
00:35:22in there. It was a really cool ride.
00:35:24And shoot the things like buzz. It was good, but we've done it now, haven't we?
00:35:27Yeah. You can also connect it to your phone and collect your points and stuff. It's only
00:35:31got a 10 minute wait right now and it's good for the family. So I'm pleased to see another
00:35:35really good attraction right here. So we are going to go and do the other Minion ride
00:35:39though because we haven't done this one yet. This one has a bigger wait. 35 minutes for
00:35:43this one. Changed plan. It wasn't moving. It's taken too long. We've just checked on
00:35:47the map and Hagrid's is only a 90 minute wait, which we've got a lot to say about the Hagrid's
00:35:52ride because most people, us included, use staying at the parks to get your hour early
00:36:00entry. Fantastic. Everyone goes to Hagrid's. And if you're fast, you can do it within about,
00:36:06we did it in 45 minutes. So that is the quickest way to do it is fast, fast, fast in your early
00:36:12entry. However, it then creeps up very fast. And for the most of the morning, it's around
00:36:19130, 140 minute wait, which is crazy, but we've just checked it at one o'clock. So it's
00:36:25midday and it's at 90 minutes, but the wait time is about 15 minutes less than what it
00:36:30actually is, which is good. So we're talking like an hour wait, give or take. We don't
00:36:35mind waiting an hour for it. We think it's worth it. There's not many rides we'd wait
00:36:40that long for. The other option as well with Hagrid's is you're allowed to get on the ride
00:36:46just before closed. That's what a lot of people do as well as they ride it at night. We did
00:36:50it both times last week, didn't we? We did it at night. It was so good. Wasn't it in
00:36:53the dark? Front Row is just the best ride. I think it's my favorite ride on any of the
00:36:58parks. Front Row and Hagrid's. Yeah, me too. It's so good. So we've come out now full circle
00:37:04and obviously we could have taken the train, but we were already at the front of this park,
00:37:07so we're walking over now. Just having a little sneaky look at the Hard Rock Cafe pins. If
00:37:13you know, you know. I collect pins and the Hard Rock have some really great ones. Been
00:37:19collecting them all over the world, but I did get one when we stayed at the Hard Rock
00:37:23Hotel last week. Oh my goodness, Benj, that pin wall rivals ours a little bit, doesn't
00:37:27it? It's huge. One from Bristol there. Really? Look how many there are. That's incredible.
00:37:34Oh my gosh, there's so many. There's loads of the same design with just different places.
00:37:39Bahrain, Baltimore, Barcelona. They must have designed them that year. Like, yeah, that's
00:37:45really cool. We are in Islands of Adventure and one of the first rides we can see ahead
00:37:50of us is Hope. Now we did this the other day. It is a pretty intense roller coaster. Gave
00:37:56you a headache, didn't it? Banging headache. So jolting. I think you're just really old
00:38:00now and that's it. It's starting to wind down on the old roller coasters. I love Velocicoaster
00:38:04though, Benj. Velocicoaster is a lap bar. It is so smooth. On Velocicoaster, it doesn't
00:38:11quite click far enough in for me, so it feels like I'm going to fall out. The best tip is
00:38:16to make sure your bum is really in it. Like, sit yourself in it. Don't rush doing it. Get
00:38:21yourself, your back, right up against the seat and then clip yourself in because the
00:38:25first time I did it, I felt like I was flying out the seat, but now I've hacked it. I know
00:38:30what I like. Also, turn left. Don't go in Christie's Landing if you're not bothered
00:38:34about this. Turn left here. You can skip going through there. Although we did see that they
00:38:38sell green eggs and ham and they have cute restaurants here. It's quite a fun little
00:38:42world, isn't it? It is really cute. It's great for kids. I mean, Dr. Seuss is iconic, isn't
00:38:47it? I'm not sure if it's because we're in sort of a low season. It is the beginning
00:38:52of February, but the parks both close at 7pm today. The other day when we were here, they
00:38:59closed at 9pm and when we were looking at the schedule, it looks like it's all a bit
00:39:03random. So if you are planning a trip or if you have a two week trip and you're planning
00:39:07a day or two days here, I would recommend checking the opening hours because those
00:39:12extra two hours do make the day just feel that bit longer and you get more out of it.
00:39:17So that's why we're trying to squeeze in doing the rides over here we want to do today because
00:39:22the parade is at 6pm and then the parks close at 7pm. So we won't have a lot of time to
00:39:27run around. Oh, that's that show, Venge. We were just talking about this. We forgot that
00:39:32show. It's not open. No. Oh, no. Oh, I don't think it's actually on anymore. I don't
00:39:36know what it's called, but there used to be a show in that building there. And we got
00:39:40like stuck in there, didn't we? It was like a walking thing. And once we were in, that

00:40:10Time now is 1.35. Let's see how we do. It is a commitment. This is definitely my favorite
00:40:19ride here too. In fact, I think it's my favorite roller coaster anywhere. Velocicoaster sits
00:40:25very close with it. Velocicoaster is my favorite, unless it's front row on this one. It's got
00:40:30so many elements, fun surprises. It's fast. The theming is excellent. It's a long ride
00:40:38too. So yeah, it's really great. And you've got your motorbike key beside. I'll show you
00:40:43a bit of what it all looks like now because I did film it the other day.

00:41:48what's that? 18 minutes quicker. Yes. So not too bad. That's what we said, didn't we? 15
00:41:54minutes, give or take. We played a lot of silly games like I Spy and Hangman. If you
00:41:59could be anything, what would you be? And then we did A to Z of Onyx Storm, well of
00:42:03the Empyrean series. We did some Instagram stories and a grid post. I watched the football
00:42:08highlights. And that's what we did. Great. Now we're time to do Velocicoaster. Here we
00:42:13go. The best coaster. We could do this like five times in a day and we'd still have fun.
00:42:20It's so epic. It's a 55 minute wait right now. Obviously we have express and it goes
00:42:25up there. The lockers are like three quarters of the way through. So if you're reading
00:42:28your book or whatever, you can keep going. Yeah. This is why the unlimited express is
00:42:32just so great. Look at this bypass queue. Bye. I love how the dinosaur is blinking.
00:42:41It feels so real. It's so good. It is now half past three and we completed it, didn't
00:42:50we? So good. The first time we did that this trip, I said to Ben, I don't remember it going
00:42:56past and then it speeds up. We did it a second time. It's so good. It's just so comfortable
00:43:02and long. Smooth. Yeah. It's just great. I could do that again and again, but we will
00:43:07do it again tomorrow. But for now we are going to head back to the hotel, take a little bit
00:43:12of a break, check in. We can check in at four, can't we? So by the time we get back there
00:43:16it'll be pretty much four o'clock. Yeah. And then we'll be coming back to see the parade
00:43:21for Mardi Gras. And we're trying to think about dinner because obviously we could eat
00:43:24meals in the park or... I think we leave the snacks for tomorrow. Yeah. The rest of them.
00:43:29So that we've got things to look forward to tomorrow. And then we go and do city walk
00:43:32maybe. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. If you bring your own water bottle, you can actually use these
00:43:38machines and get water for free. It's just that water button on the far left. I feel
00:43:43like people don't think you can use these if you don't have one of those refill cups,
00:43:47but... I would to be fair, we didn't, did we? No, we didn't. One of our gripes always used
00:43:51to be that the water in, I don't know if it's all of the US or just Florida, it tastes
00:43:56horrible. Yeah, we didn't like it. Now it's so much better. Yeah. Something I always used
00:44:01to complain about and it's definitely got better. So I'll give them props for changing
00:44:04it. I will say, we used to buy the refillable cup. It's like $20 and you can refill as many
00:44:09times as you like. And if you're here in the height of summer, it is actually worth it
00:44:13if you want a lot, if you have a big family and you're sharing and you want a lot of like
00:44:17soda or fizzy drinks. A cup for four or five people or whatever. It works, doesn't it?
00:44:21But we've steered away from too many fizzy drinks. Like now, I don't think we're getting
00:44:25older. And to be honest, it did. We, that's what we did when we were younger, wasn't it?
00:44:29We did get the refillable mug and it did work for us. But yeah, we loved it. We had loads.
00:44:33But now we're just water people. Yeah. We're getting old. There's some cute shops around
00:44:39here. Oh yes, the Christmas one. We're going to go through it and show you. It's called
00:44:43Port of Entry Christmas and it is absolutely adorable. And we came here at Christmas in 2022
00:44:49and we got a really cute Grinch decoration and we love it. But we've also realized that they have
00:44:55loads more. They're around the back here. So if you did want one, some of them are just
00:44:59so cute. Like look at that one. We have this stink, stank, stunk, but I actually prefer
00:45:05this, I think. Look how pretty this shop is. Honestly, it's so nice. Don't miss coming
00:45:11through here on your way out. There's some really cute Harry Potter bits as well. The other day,
00:45:15I tried the birthday cake fudge. It was very sweet, but it was very good. And Benji had
00:45:21this. Yeah, he liked this. He loves the sugar cookies and he had that. Look at all these
00:45:25little wicked treats. Wicked themed treats. They're so good. And then there's some down
00:45:29here. It smells incredible. I wish you could smell it. I don't think we need him.
00:45:33We definitely don't need him, but he's cute. How cute is Scooby as a dog name though? Scooby.
00:45:38Wow. Just when you think the hats couldn't get any better, that is something.

00:45:46This is the walkway down to the hotel. Oh look, the boat's there. Oh yeah, the boat
00:45:52docks over there. So that's the bridge that takes you into City Walk. One of the greatest
00:45:56things as well is the security. You forget, we used to spend ages at security at the front
00:46:00entrance. On an initial observation between going back to the hard rock versus coming
00:46:06back to Lowe's Royal Pacific. This is certainly a longer walk. By about five minutes? I'd
00:46:12say so.
00:46:26We are tower three. And also we got to go to the concierge desk. Didn't have to wait
00:46:31in a big queue at reception, which was good. And they just swapped our cards. So we are
00:46:35room 3319, if you can find a bench. All right, let's take a look. So on the right is the
00:46:42bathroom. We'll come back to that in a moment. Let's have a look at the main room. It's a
00:46:46similar design to the hard rock. Two nice big beds. We have a full length mirror here
00:46:51on the right. Lovely lighting, big TV and desk area. And then here is a wardrobe. This
00:46:58looks quite big actually. If you were staying here for a week, that'd be really nice. Much
00:47:02better than what we have at Caribbean Beach, I will say. I do like that a lot. Plus all
00:47:07this storage down here. We've got a fridge in there. View wise, nice big windows. Looks
00:47:12like that's the pathway that we've been going along to some gardens. Initial first impression.
00:47:17It's very spacious. I really like it. Super modern. You've got the carpet going into the
00:47:22hard floor out there. Love, love, love. Let's take a look at the bathroom. This is gorgeous.
00:47:29The lighting, the marble, the detailing, really lovely, very sleek and modern and clean. I
00:47:37like a mirror and a bathroom that has good lighting. Let me just show you the bathroom.
00:47:41So this is this side, obviously the toilet. The shower is nice and big and we have both
00:47:46the shower heads, which I like. And then the products are Julian Farrell. Never heard of
00:47:51them, but nice. It smells really new and clean. I just can't explain that much better than
00:47:58that. The whole hotel looks so new, doesn't it? So new, very modern, really nice. But
00:48:02I will say Hard Rock was still nice. People knocked the Hard Rock to us and said that
00:48:08it wasn't great, but let me just talk more about that. We did actually sleep in two separate
00:48:12beds. We did, and I think we'll do it again tonight. It's a universal thing. Hard Rock,
00:48:17as I mentioned, has its own security. It was a quicker walk. It's on the other side, closer
00:48:23to the main park. This is a pretty good map to give you a good idea. So we are staying
00:48:29here. And last week we stayed here. So Hard Rock is right by Universal Studios. Lowe's
00:48:34Royal Pacific is by Island Adventure, but not to be too confused because Lowe's Portofino
00:48:38Bay Hotel is up there. It's a bit further along than Hard Rock. And then you've got
00:48:42a couple of other hotels down here, Volcano Bay down there. We were able to do the same
00:48:46thing, leave our bags, get our unlimited express passes. You also get your one hour early entry.
00:48:52I really liked this private security. It was so quiet all the time. Taking the boat
00:48:57to and from the parks to the hotel was also a massive perk, even though the walking distance
00:49:01wasn't that far either. And then this was the room. It was a very similar layout to
00:49:05Lowe's Royal Pacific. And in comparison, they were very similar, but I really did like it
00:49:10here. It was very clean, very comfortable. And in all honesty, I probably would choose
00:49:13here as my first hotel.
00:49:15I definitely would return to the Hard Rock. I would return here as well. I really am warming
00:49:21up to the idea of staying for longer, but I thought it'd be important to try and break
00:49:25down the expenses of why we've done things the way we have. We booked our 14 day tickets
00:49:32and one night at the Hard Rock for 1,044 pounds. That was a Black Friday deal. We got around
00:49:39150 pound off on attraction tickets. Tickets are normally around 364 pound each and 459
00:49:47pound for one night at the Hard Rock in January. We obviously then got the two days of unlimited
00:49:54express pass. So the day you check in, the day you check out. We then decided, why don't
00:50:00we stay again? Because we wanted to come for one more day to do Mardi Gras as we've done
00:50:05today. So we said, okay, we'll just pay for the unlimited express pass for the day instead.
00:50:10The cost for that, this is actually a low time, was 141 pound per person. So that's
00:50:17two parks, one day on this exact date. You can actually get a cheaper express pass where
00:50:22you can do each ride once, but we like the unlimited one because we typically go on some
00:50:27of our favorites a couple of times. We like that option anyway, which is why this is such
00:50:32a great perk. To stay for one night here, which we booked last week, costs 390 pounds.
00:50:40Yes, it would have been cheaper for us because we had the 14 day park tickets anyway. It
00:50:44would have been cheaper for us to have just done one day. But in terms of value, we wanted
00:50:49to rest here. We wanted to stay the night here. We paid 400 pounds to stay the night,
00:50:55but then got 564 pounds value of express passes. Does that make sense? Hopefully it does. That's
00:51:01the breakdown on it. The other option is that you could cut your Disney trip down to nine
00:51:06or 10 days, or do a week at Disney and a week at Universal, which can work as well.
00:51:11We didn't want to do that because we originally were only going to do one night and we were
00:51:14quite happy to just pack an overnight bag and then return back. Now in hindsight, because
00:51:19we've stayed there for two nights, we probably could have broken up the trip in that way.
00:51:23But I have to admit, I've quite liked splitting our two nights at the beginning, so like middle
00:51:29of the trip and the end of the trip. We're going to spend about an hour, hour and a half
00:51:33just relaxing, taking a moment. The hubbub and noise of the parks, running around, being
00:51:39on your feet can be tiring. Theme park days are not easy, especially if you're doing 10,
00:51:4515, 20,000 steps in a day. So it is nice to break up, have a rest. And that's why staying
00:51:51overnight is just so much better for us, I think now. So we're going to have just an
00:51:55hour or two of silence, read our books, unpack our bits. Then we'll be going back over to
00:52:00the park to watch the parade at six. You look like you are a tourist that's just checked
00:52:05into his holiday in Hawaii. But we can stack our beads on top of this. And I should mention
00:52:11that you can actually get a virtual queue and join the parade. So they have guests that
00:52:18are on the floats. Yeah. And they chuck the beads off, but we want to watch the floats.
00:52:22We want to catch the beads. We want to see it from the ground. In terms of timings, it
00:52:27So it's taken us 10 minutes to get from the hotel door to the ball. 12 minutes exactly.
00:52:34So by the time we get through the gates, it'll be 15 minutes. It's not too bad, is it? No,
00:52:38it's not too bad. We also cut off quite a lot of city walk by going along the water
00:52:43Look at the sunset. Oh my gosh.

01:04:07We paid around £750 for 14 day tickets from attraction tickets.
01:04:13And to upgrade, you pay the difference.
01:04:16So it was only £180 for us both.
01:04:19So £90 each for annual passes.
01:04:22We only need to come once for it to make it worth its money.
01:04:25And then we get discounts on hotels, obviously park tickets.
01:04:28Plus to get to Epic Universe right now, you can only book if you're an annual pass holder.
01:04:33So if we wanted to realistically come out in May or June when it like really brand new
01:04:37opens, we could.
01:04:39However, we're probably more likely to like come out in September, October or even January,
01:04:44February next year.
01:04:45But either way, we're not, obviously we haven't planned the trip yet, but this does mean we
01:04:48are definitely coming back.
01:04:49And I'm saying to Benj that we may even just do a universal trip.
01:04:52So just come out here, stay at their hotels, do their parks, do Epic Universe.
01:04:56Do their golf courses.
01:04:58Yeah.
01:04:59And we can work out here, maybe even have a villa if we wanted to.
01:05:01We don't even have to stay in Seattle.

01:05:20We don't care about coming in July because of the heat.

01:05:24We're not bothered by those block out dates.
01:05:26We actively avoid them dates, which is perfect.
01:05:28Yeah, so that's fine by us.
01:05:30It is $100 cheaper if you're a Florida resident.
01:05:32And you can get higher ones up that include like parking, which we never do because we
01:05:36don't like having a car.
01:05:37So yeah, just do your research, have a look.
01:05:39But it made financial sense for us to pay £90 each towards our next trip basically,
01:05:44instead of paying another £700 again the next time we come.
