00:00The manager of the Brea Improv, he had said,
00:03I see the best of the best come through here.
00:06I see people who are actors or actresses
00:09trying to do comedy.
00:11He says, but I've never seen anybody
00:12like you have such command of the stage,
00:15are so relatable, and you're doing a great job.
00:18He was so encouraging.
00:19I didn't want the comedians that I've been working with
00:22all my entire career to think that I was just jumping in
00:27and doing something out of nowhere
00:29without, you know, integrity.
00:33And so the fact that people like Miss Pat,
00:38Lunell, Kim Whitley, Dave Chappelle, Damon Wayans,
00:43they're all rooting me on, and they're like,
00:45yeah, keep going to you, and they're giving me advice.
00:47I just wanna take chances that I've never taken before.
00:51Even with my kids, they're older now.
00:54I didn't even take jobs that were outside of California
00:57because my kids are based here, right?
00:59So for a long time, I didn't take jobs,
01:02and it probably hurt my career a lot.
01:04Like, I wouldn't go to another state.
01:08I wouldn't go to another country
01:09because raising them was more important than anything else.
