Ex-guide dog can't forget how to guide - and holds onto his owner's clothes

Joey, a seven-year-old Labrador Retriever cross, may not have made the grade as a guide dog, but he’s still guided by his training.

Despite not passing the assessment, Joey holds onto his owner Izzy Rosenblatt's clothing wherever they go, a habit from his early training.

Izzy, a trainee therapist from Liverpool, says he follows her closely and even tries to pull her to safety when scared, such as during fireworks.

Joey’s story, Izzy says, is a metaphor for finding alternate paths in life, showing that even when things don’t go as planned, everything can work out perfectly.
