00:00Ukraine, on Tuesday, agreed to accept a U.S. proposal for an immediate, 30-day ceasefire
00:08in the conflict with Russia.
00:10U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the agreement after more than eight hours
00:15of talks between Ukrainian and U.S. officials' talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
00:21Today we made an offer that the Ukrainians have accepted, which is to enter into a ceasefire
00:26and into immediate negotiations to end this conflict in a way that's enduring and sustainable
00:31and accounts for their interests, their security, their ability to prosper as a nation.
00:36Now hopefully we'll take this offer now to the Russians.
00:38And we hope that they'll say yes, that they'll say yes to peace.
00:41The ball is now in their court.
00:42The development comes after a stunning Oval Office shouting match between the presidents
00:47of the two countries.
00:48The rift had immediate repercussions for Ukraine.
00:52President Donald Trump canceled military support and ended crucial intelligence sharing.
00:57But as part of accepting the proposed ceasefire, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz said
01:02Washington will resume sharing aid and intelligence with Kiev.
01:07Outside the White House, Trump said there would be a U.S. meeting with Russia to discuss
01:11the ceasefire plan soon.
01:14But very importantly, and I said it, Ukraine, ceasefire, Ukraine, ceasefire.
01:21Just agreed to a little while ago.
01:23Now we have to go to Russia and hope President, hopefully President Putin will agree to that
01:27also.
01:28And we can get this show on the road.
01:29If we can get Russia to do it, that'll be great.
01:32If we can't, we just keep going on and people are going to get killed, lots of people.
01:36Is Zelensky invited back to the White House?
01:38Sure.
01:39Absolutely.
01:40Two weeks later, Russia's foreign ministry said it didn't rule out contacts with U.S.
01:44representatives over the next several days, according to state news agency RIA.
01:50Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, who was in Saudi Arabia but did not participate
01:55in the talks, said the ceasefire was a positive proposal.
01:59He also said the two countries would work to finalize a minerals agreement.
