South Koreans divided over Yoon's release from detention center

Supporters of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol applauded as he walked out of a detention center on Saturday, March 8, after prosecutors decided not to appeal a court decision to cancel the impeached leader's arrest warrant on insurrection charges.

Yoon, the first South Korean president to be arrested while in office, has been held at the Seoul Detention Center, located in the city of Uiwang, 22km (14 miles) south of Seoul, since January 15.

In Seoul, hundreds of anti-Yoon protesters gathered to denounce the prosecutors' decision to release him from the detention center.
