00:26The show was first going to be called A Legal Mind.
00:29But the name change viewers can't stop talking about is the big switch to Sussex,
00:33which Meghan appeared to soft-launch in Episode 2 of her Netflix series,
00:37while talking fast food with pal Mindy Kaling.

00:48People Magazine reported back on February 15th the news that Sussex is their family's surname now,
00:53in a story about Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet taking on the last name.

01:07And now, Meghan's using her first talk show appearance in more than three years
01:11to let the world know the name of the game.

01:15Harry and Meghan became the Duke and Duchess of Sussex when they got married in 2018.
01:19In a new People Magazine cover story, Meghan reveals that the Sussex name is a part of their
01:24love story, so it means a lot for the title to become their shared name as a family.
01:28Prince Harry previously used the last name Wales, same as his brother Prince William's kids,
01:32as William and Catherine are the Prince and Princess of Wales.
01:35But the Sussex kids used to go by the royal family's traditional last name, Mountbatten-Windsor.
01:40It's all a bit confusing, since royal family members typically don't use a last name at all,
01:44and if they do, it may or may not also be the name of their royal title.
01:48And while Meghan letting the world know that Meghan Sussex is the new name to drop
01:52is helpful, it clashes with how she's credited at the end of every episode of her new show.
01:56She's credited as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, on Netflix, not The Duchess of Sussex.
02:01That seems like a minor detail, but it's technically a flub, as
02:05the traditionally only gets dropped when a royal family member gets divorced.
02:08Diana, the Princess of Wales, for example,
02:11became just Diana, Princess of Wales, after her split with Charles.

02:16Meghan is being called out by critics for serving up eight disappointing episodes of
02:20With Love, Meghan, with UK critics especially dragging Meghan's name through the mud.

02:29and U.S. critics aren't much kinder.
