Launch of the new Monopoly Peak District edition at the George in Hathersage
Transcript
00:00So I'm John King-Thompson, Partnerships Manager at winningmoves.co.uk, the creator of Monopoly
00:06regional editions in the UK. So we've essentially created the Peak District edition following the
00:12success of a number of other national park editions within the UK. We knew that the Peak
00:17District had a really kind of tight-knit community feel, loads of people really passionate about the
00:22area and obviously a ton of holiday footfall as well. So very pleased to announce first off the
00:28board, highest value squares, we've got Buxton and Bakewell, kind of two big vista hubs for
00:33the Peak District. On top of that we tried to celebrate some of the industrial history,
00:38so our utility squares, we've got Cornfields Mill and Cornford Mills as well. And then for our
00:45travel squares we focused on places with stations, but we've got kind of a walking theme on it as
00:49well, so maybe those stations mean a bit of respite for people walking around the peaks.
00:54And then yeah, we've got a mixture of Matlock, we've got the Tissington Well
00:57dressing in there as well, so kind of a fun spin on local tradition too.
01:02My name is Rob Hattersley, I'm the Managing Director of Longbow Venues. We are so thrilled
01:07to have three spaces for the Bainard in Grindleford, the George and Hansedge and the Ashford Arms,
01:12Ashford in the Water, featured on the Peak District Monopoly board. It's a fantastic thing
01:16for the area, a great thing to shout about and just one more reason we're proud of being this
01:21most fantastic local park. We've hosted the launch event today here at the George and Hansedge,
01:26we've had a great turnout, some lovely local businesses, some real supporters of the area
01:31and some media as well. It's been brilliant and we're so happy to showcase this most fantastic
01:37product.
