The end of humanity is signaled by the sudden eruption of some volcanoes considered extinct and shortly after, the explosion of the remaining volcanoes in the world, both terrestrial and aquatic. Yellowstone Park is devastated by an immense flow of lava coming out of the conduit of a geyser; southern Italy is devastated by the eruption of Vesuvius and Etna and Japan is devastated by a pyroclastic cloud coming out of the Fuji that has just awakened.
The research of the university teacher and volcanologist Peter Shepard, aided by the assistant-student Brianna Chapman demonstrates that the sudden volcanic eruptions are caused by the massive expansion of the Earth's core, which has forced the mantle to come out in the form of lava through the Earth's crust. The causes of the expansion of the core, however, this time are not man-made.
The earth is in Peter's hands: he has sent some submarine crews on a mission to launch torpedoes that, exploding underwater in contact with sensitive surfaces and in precisely precise points, reduce the pressure of the magma and allow the volcanoes to "calm down". The mission is accomplished, however the earth has changed: the continents will be more different thanks to the cracks caused by the game of explosions of the torpedoes and volcanic eruptions, but the earth is saved.
