00:00Hello, my name is Jill Roseblade. I'm the Executive Headteacher of Alva Valley Schools.
00:05My name's Ali Lockwood. I'm Head of Schools of Alva Valley Schools.
00:09Brilliant, so tell me how you feel about your recent Ofsted?
00:14We were really pleased with it because it really shone a light on the values that we hold dear to
00:20the school. It really reflected and highlighted those areas that we've really worked on hard
00:27and also the fact that the children came out as so
00:31supportive of each other and such as strong learning behaviours across the schools.
00:37So tell me what sets Alva Valley aside from other schools?
00:43Alva Valley is a really special place. We have an amazing curriculum that we've designed around the
00:48needs of our children and one of the things that we really aim to do is to make learning
00:53irresistible for children and that's exactly what we've done in our curriculum. Whether it's
00:58through our hooks to books, whether it's through our forest school provision that we have for
01:02children, the diversity in the curriculum that really represents the children in our school as
01:07well. So our children should feel a real strong sense of belonging and that's what came through
01:13in the report as well. We're the most diverse school in Gosport and that's really reflected
01:20in the report and what we do on a day in day out basis as well.
01:24Tell me what Alva Valley schools have plans for the future?
01:30So the report highlighted the good work that we've started on the writing progression
01:36document that we've created already and we're working on that. So that's one of the areas but
01:41really it's about continuing and developing our school in terms of the good work that's already
01:46going on at the moment and we've already started. It's a really special place as Ali said
01:51and it's making those memories and opportunities for our children using our natural environment,
01:56using what we have, using our forest schools, using all those exciting learning opportunities
02:02they have and growing together as a community because our children come together and really
02:08work well together and that's a real important social skill that we kind of like really reflect
02:13on and work on. So tell me is there anything you're particularly proud of? Any points of the
02:19opposite? Yeah I mean I think what really comes through strongly is also the skill, the talent
02:26and the expertise of our teaching team and wider staff. It's been a really a big team effort but
02:33actually it really shines on all those different qualities that our team bring to the children
02:39and make sure that they have a safe caring and fun experience at Alba Valley Schools.
