02:08Like, Nicholas had, what, 70-something seconds in tournaments.

02:12But the greatest major I've ever witnessed was when you and Hendrick were going at it.

02:17And you played your ass off.

02:19I mean, what did you shoot the last round?

02:29That was probably one of the greatest majors I've ever seen in my life.

02:31It was just you guys dueling it out because you guys were so far ahead of everybody.

02:34To see that, I would say, was probably the major that anybody else besides him,

02:39you would have won by 12, 15 shots.

02:42The third place was, I think, 11 or 12 behind J.B. Holmes.

02:46And we had pulled away a lot.

02:49It was the only time I can remember playing my absolute best golf

02:53and not having it be enough.

02:55Even with Tiger Round, if I played my absolute best golf,

03:00I ended up winning.

03:01There wasn't a time where I felt like I played better than I ever could.

03:06But I certainly did that week, and I got beat.

03:08I mean, that was an interesting one.

03:10It was probably one of the greatest majors I've ever seen.

03:13Because the British Open, you don't see somebody shooting 20 under par.

03:17No, and it was plenty tough.

03:18We had a lot of wind.

03:19I mean, it was, like, really not easy.

03:24I just couldn't believe what y'all were shooting.

03:33So you and Henrik Stenson were going,

03:35and Henrik can flat out strike a golf ball.

03:37And when he was on those couple of years,

03:39it was, wow, it was something to see.

03:42He had that little shift, that pre-shift,

03:44and he used that old 3-wood, I remember.

03:46You know, the air at the British Open is so thick and heavy

03:49that the wind affects it like no other.

03:51So it goes a lot shorter.

03:52Oh, a lot.

03:53And crosswind affects it.

03:54But what was weird was Henrik would hit the ball

03:57and strike it so solid,

03:59and he would send it up in the air,

04:01and the wind wouldn't touch it.

04:03Like, it didn't curve.

04:04Was it just because he struck it that well?

04:06It just would go through?

04:07Honestly, I can't figure it out.

04:08I mean, I think that's what it is,

04:10but I really can't figure it out.

10:27in the middle oh yeah that was a good shot right where i wanted it too what uh club did you use

10:33that was a gap wedge 50 degree okay so i tried to get pretty steep on that i wanted to get a

10:37really good after because that ball flew longer than we thought almost like the wind it probably

10:41flew about 128 because it flew almost to where that guy is yeah that flew a little bit too far

10:46like we didn't really get i mean i'm looking at that wind that's this way i mean i guess

10:50it's more left to right well i've got a pelz swing which for me if you subscribe to my channel you

10:56know what a pelz swing is it's shorter backswing than full and it's 10 yards under a full number so

11:02my pelz gap is 115 full is 25 now i'm looking at the water the wind's having a gust right at us so

11:09i don't know if you just got unlucky because you flushed that i think yours is going to rip back

11:14yeah so a little little steep on it i think if you hit this normal it's going to spin back a ton

11:20okay so i have to get it driving a little more i'm gonna have to hit more than 115 i'm gonna

11:24probably have to 18 19 on the number yeah i like that and i need it to work left to right so i'll

11:30let the wind drift it that's the shot if i try to cut it back it'll kill it like it'll come up let

13:45story this is a true story just happened i've been eating these tangerine gummies

13:49they have lutein in it which helps prepare your eyes i went to the eye doctor a week ago my

13:54prescription has been minus 2.5 my entire life for the last 30 years 2.5 it got weaker after 30 years

14:03my eyesight got better and now my prescription is minus 2.0 or 2.25 and you started eating those

14:11yes yeah alcohol is good good but i do want him to come see i am closer than him i think i don't

14:16know i can't tell he was chirping me on the tee john what uh i don't know wow boys what a shot

14:22dude that's some fun stuff there phil i'm happy you hit that club too you ripped it back you barely

14:32a golf shot when i say what i mean by that is you didn't just like wail on it have the ball go up in

14:38the air without control and come down randomly by it you flighted that you took extra club you

14:42flighted it controlled your spin let it barely fall at the tail end after the apex fell to the

14:48right out of the sky went across the hole almost made it like that almost that really does it for

14:53me if you can't tell like i love close i love that yeah you gotta have a three-quarter shot that was

14:58a pro shot you know the way it flighted in there and fell so drive will par four here guys 275 to

15:04carry to the front right i love that all right phil i'm getting right after this it's 296 to

15:11take care of all the water okay so i'm gonna go right for this pin actually i think so and i was

15:17doing a event here with live and we were doing on this green where that pin is there's a huge hump

15:24to the right okay and although it looks like you want to blow to the right that's a tough shot okay

15:28so we want to keep it left i think we just want to take it right at it i think the left bunker

15:32is a good spot okay i'm going just i'm just going to send it right at this pin here we go

16:54golf clubs to service men and women throughout the world so anytime you guys are in a bunker

17:03that's a hundred dollars to the bunkers for baghdad and we will see you guys in the next one

17:13let that though let you know that I forgot to mention that but tell me a

17:15little bit about Heart of the Lion Foundation because you guys do a lot of

17:18good work. Yeah we've started with Chick and Monica and we've been doing this

17:22about four years and it's all for responders, vets. We go into towns and we

17:26we get with soldiers and vets and stuff and we donate it to that town. It's not

17:32like we're gonna donate it anywhere else we donate and we get soldiers to come

17:36out we get responders we get kids to come out and just help local towns out

17:40charities that they need but now it's it's it's it's just fun for me to do it

17:44and my mom always said I was a heart of a lion and we started it and we just did

17:48one down at Fisher Island with Mike Holbrook. God what a place that was.

17:51Probably raised a hundred grand you know it's just great to help these vets out

17:55because they need it. Thanks for all you do to help others. You've always

17:58given back to a lot of people. It's what we're here for. It's really impressive.

18:01Thank you. You play it off as though like you're very like you're not concerned

18:07about the details and stuff but you're very concerned about the details like

18:10you've always been involved in equipment. How involved have you been in your

18:14equipment and the details throughout your career? Well like you know when I

18:17was with Conway way back in the day you know we kind of built the Bertha. I like

18:21to build things with Jason and the guys at Sub-Sammy. I love this company because

18:24they let the tour guys build the stuff. I want it I don't really care about

18:27track man I don't you know all I want to see is my spin ratio with the longer

18:31stuff with the wedges and the small iron you don't need a track man. You know you

18:34can sit there and hit full shots all day but and hit them solid but you know

18:38what are you gonna do when you hit this three-quarter shot? These kids don't know

18:40how to do it. Yeah you know what's interesting about you John is that when

18:42you have a track man and you hit a shot tracks the radar and then it takes us a

18:46few seconds for the numbers to pop up on the screen. I've hit ten balls before the

18:49number pops up. You know the numbers before it pops up. You know what the spin rate is,

18:52the launch, all of that. So Phil this is my favorite shot in golf you know I

18:56usually don't get too confident when I'm hitting any other shot but when I get in

19:00here I get a little you know I get excited. Grant this is where your ball

19:04landed right here. Yeah oh no no way. Oh I didn't get it all the way back. Go, go,

19:13go. Go, go, go. Oh it's going. She just missed it. All right not bad. Yeah. What do you think?

22:09dressed in the dark because you've got so many colors. You just put a solid shirt on, you're

22:12going to match. Getting dressed in the dark. It simplifies life, you know? Yeah, never heard of

22:18that. How many times do we waste 20 minutes? Looking at our outfit. Perfect. Yeah. Perfect,

24:21here we are. We've got to find ourselves on that path. It's crazy that we've already done it. We're

26:05the shortest videos out there. I want to dominate. I want it to get ugly. Okay. People are going to

26:12start to catch on by how long your videos are. They're going to be like, well, they never came.

26:16They didn't finish. That's it. Team JD over here. It's three down. Are you worried at all?

26:22Really? Only time I ever got scared, son, is when I got diagnosed with cancer. You think I'm scared

26:26of anything? Please. You know, that's very true. That's true. The tension between them is starting.

26:37of conflict between John and his dad. And, uh, I can just tell now John's going to want to, he

26:43doesn't want to let his son down as well. Yeah. And when little John said, well, if you took more

26:47than three seconds, like I felt the tension rise. Yeah. And I mean, you see that with a father son

26:53duo sometimes, but they're both very, very, very competitive. What I like is how you and I bring

26:59that out in them. That's nice. We don't really have to do too much, do we? No, no. All right.

29:37the place we're in right now. We're applying some pressure. If we can make this,

29:41forget the first eight feet. Cause it's does nothing there, but then it softly turns left

29:44the whole way. Yup. I see that. And even though it feels downhill at our feet,

29:48it's actually coming back up through here. Okay. I think I got this read. Perfect.

31:18to soak up this moment in right now. Cause I, it could be coming to an end. Um, so they're,

31:22they're currently dormy, so they'd have to win the next four to send it into a playoff. The odds

31:27of that happening, I think are pretty low, but, um, let's finish strong here and we'll be, uh,

31:31should we be gracious winners? No. Okay. No, I'm not good at that. Okay. So at all, I would like

31:38to see the last few holes. Sure. I hear they're great. I mean, Dutchman's pipe has been incredible

31:42golf course for us. And, uh, I'd like to see the last few, but we can always just drive them on

31:48our own. Yeah. You know, we can display them on our own for funsies, you know? Yeah, we could,

31:52we can just shut off the cameras and, uh, have a good time after this. I say we just end this now.

31:56I mean, I don't need to have the longest videos out there on, I'm just getting into this YouTube

32:01stuff. I don't need to like go for a marathon. So we've got a par four here. Water is left and

32:05you can reach it. So I'm going to have to hug this right side here. Yeah. Um, just going to

32:10tee it low into the breeze here. Hopefully it goes a little left to right.

32:45got water left has always been like a challenge for me and being able to know I can do that.

33:15they don't learn them until they're 30, 40, that to be learning and working on them at such a young

33:19age, it's a lot of work, but it's a lot of fun. It's a lot of fun. It's a lot of fun.

33:24To be learning and working on them at such a young age and know

33:27what to do and then taught how to hit it. Like it's a huge advantage. It's why, it's why you're

33:32developing to such a great player. Great addition to your lift team. Yeah. Well,

33:36he keeps playing like this. Yes. Yeah. Well, John might be, maybe he might join the high flyers one

33:42day. I feel like it's every young golfer's dream. Yeah. What? No, no, not. Okay.

34:44heard every hole aside. Nice. I see. I'm so into the match aspect. I don't even know. We don't make

34:50pars on my channel. No, we don't. My channel is about birdies. Your channel, it all changes,

34:53and that's where these videos become really short. High flyers. We're into birdies, dude. All right.

34:58So let's finish with a birdie. Let's get a shot here. So you like a low, okay. A 120 shot here.

35:03Probably. What's the actual yardage, Phil? It's 120. No, the shot, you got to figure out what

35:08number. I mean, it's, you know, based on trajectory and height, if you're going to send one up in the

35:12air, you're going to have to hit 40, 40, 45, but you're not. So you're not going to get a birdie.

35:17I'm not. 40, 45, but you're not. So now you're going to, you know,

35:20it's 130 yard shot if you bring it down. Okay. 130.

35:27Oh, didn't do it, Phil, but that actually might work. Yeah. See, that's an, again, though,

35:34so flighted. It's on the right edge. It's pin high. It's, you flighted it, controlled your

35:38trajectory. Like that's, that's a world-class shot, even though it was a little bit, a little

35:42bit right. If you're, you know, what you're doing is spot on. So I have a similar club,

35:47like I have a nine iron. I normally hit a stock nine iron 155. We have 120.

35:52I'm going to short my backswing. Now this is the, this is the thing about wind is that when people

35:56hit it hard with it, or obviously the ball goes way up in the air with spin. So you want to hit

36:00it easier, but you don't want to slow down. So just shorten the backswing and accelerate. And

36:04eventually there's a club that will come in low and flat and not spin. If I had a five iron from

36:09here, that ball is going to chase and keep going forward. So I can work off of that. I could hit a

36:13six, a seven, an eight, or a nine. I'm going to hit a nine, shorten the backswing, accelerate.

36:18Like I would normally, it'll drop the spin. I'll drop the flight.

36:26Wow. Phil, that's just so nice. That's just got to go a hair.

36:30Okay. That's short. So rather than swing harder, I think maybe I should drop to an eight

36:35because that was the flight I was looking for. And if I had to hit it any harder,

36:39then it's going to spin up. So I probably should have dropped down a little bit if I wanted to

36:44use that effort. And that's a valuable lesson for playing here in Florida, because it's always windy

36:49and you need to know how to flight it and hit it low. Because I see too many guys,

36:52they get into the wind like this. They try and take the club they'd normally hit from 120 and

36:57just swing harder. And it balloons up into the air, comes up way short. So next time you have

37:01120 into the breeze, just punch an eight iron. Easy little eight iron. That's it. But don't

37:07decelerate, just shorten the backswing and then accelerate through. I think the odds of us making

37:12either of those pots are going to be about the same. So it doesn't really matter. I like yours.

37:18The reason I like that is just because it's on. I don't want to plug through the front. We don't

37:23seem to make as many of those. No. We got to make this. Yeah, we got to make this to stay live,

37:28basically. I think he's going to make this. He said he's reached his equilibrium. Now he's got

37:34two hands on the putter, too. Come back left. Come back left. Do it. Come back left. Come back

37:43left. Go, go, go, go. Oh my gosh. Good putt. What a great putt. He got serious when two hands went

37:55on the putter. Oh, did you use two there? Yeah, my hand's killing me. From all the one-handed putting?

38:01No, just hitting shots.

38:08Oh, do it. Go, go. Oh, right in the heart. All right. We have made, we've birdied every hole

38:14this side, Grant. Let's not stop now. Yeah. What do we see here, Phil? It just swings left. It's

38:21uphill. It swings left a decent amount. Okay. Let me just use this as a drill here. Keep in mind,

38:29you're on my channel. We don't make par. We only make birdies. Yeah, and we want to keep it.
